Car seat and coupe question

Got a delimma...I currently own a sedan g35..however it just isnt me. i got the car because my wife had a baby and i figured it would be easier to put a car seat in it rather than put it in my previous coupe. i love the sedan but the coupe just looks so much better imo. do any of you have car seats put in the back of yours and how big of a pain in the *** is it to put your kid in it. i know pulling up in a hot little sports car with a car seat in it kinda kills the mood but i would just love to trade mine in for a 2 door. anyone got this problem?

I occasionally put both my kids car seats in the back (A rear facing infant seat and a booster seat). I have not had any problems. With the front seat forward, I have had no issues getting the seats or the kids in or out. The only thing that is a little wonkey, is that the infant seat does not sit well in the bucket seats. I have to get the base to straddle the seat, and then tighten it down hard.

I have an 06 Coupe.

my boy is 3, and big for his age. when hes in the back, you cant even see him from outside the car. the back bucket sits pretty low. putting the seat in and out is the biggest pain of the whole job, and even that is too tuff.

I've got 2 kids seats in the back - though mine are 4 and 7 now, so they can climb in and do their own seatbelts. Lots of room for them. I'm 6'0", and I can sit very comfortably with the 4 year old behind me.

As a note, it's a good idea to leave a folded towel under the car seat (or base in your case) to protect the seats.

It's really not a problem with the kids - go for it!

I've had both my kids car seats in the back. It's not a problem at all.

Fortunately my wife has a minivan so this is a very rare occurance but they do fit.

Yes I made this mistake with my wifes suv. This is our first kid and never thought about the seats and I just through the base of the car seat in and a while later when I took it out there were major indentations in the leather....ooops. So when I got my car with the leather seats I was smart and threw a towel right in there.

I have two children - aged 2 & 4 - and the coupe is my daily driver. My 4 year old can buckle himself so he's easy - my 2 year old requires my help but it really isn't a PITA. I can see how it would be a bit more of an inconvenience with a rear-facing child but that doesn't last that long. Half my family thought I was crazy getting a coupe vs. a sedan with kids but like you, the sedan just wasn't me. Definitely go for it.

I'd suggest tinting the windows for privacy if you go for a coupe.

My son's car seat is in the middle of the back seat. I was thinking that would be the best place in case of a side impact, However; the car seat doesn't fit tightly at the bottom. I drive an 04 sedan btw. Any other sedan owners have this issue?

Here's my 02 from a brand new Dad!

The seat fits, but it doesn't fit "WELL" as long as the seat has to have the child facing the rear of the car.

Until my son is old enough to turn that car seat around to were he is facing the front of the car, it's almost impossible to fit him and my wife on the same side. I'm 6'5", so she can NOT fit behind me either.

We did ONE afternoon of the coupe w/ the baby and that's all it took for us to realize that it's too much of a (uncomfortable) ride and a pain to get him in and out. Maybe when he reaches that age where the seat can face the front, it might be "OK", but that's about as good as it's going to get.

I recently switched from a sedan to a coupe for the same reason....the coupe looks SO much better in my opinion.

Let me tell ya...it's a pain in the *** to put my two little guys in their car seats in the coupe. It's not so bad on the passenger side which has a release handle to move the seat forward, but on the driver's side it's a PITA...I have to use the side lever to move the seat forward and when I put it back down, I lose the position I had for the back of my seat.

It's also difficult to buckle the seatbelt up for my son who's in the booster seat because the latch always gets stuck under the base of the seat since the back seats are narrower than the base of the booster seat.

After having said all of this...if I had the choice to do it over again, I'd still make the switch to the coupe...it looks so damn good! I guess we can't have everything can we?
