New 2004 Red 6mt Coupe, BSM, 4-pc Aero, prem, Pics
After 4 months of waiting and Three Salesmen my baby has arrived!!
I placed my order in May on my birthday. After driving vehicles for the mere purpose of "Transportation", it was finally time to drive something for "Entertainment".
The main problem with my car buying experience was the fact that my original sales guy left the dealership and they ordered my car without the 4-pc aero kit. I absolutley did not want the 4th brake light in the rear window so I had them replace the rear parcel shelf - see this thread for that saga that resulted in us "firing" our second Sales guy: http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...rt=&PHPSESSID=
They finally got the parcel shelf "right" and most of the aero kit put on but, as many of you know, it's nearly impossible to order the factory front chin spoiler. Well, at the last minute the dealership realized that they had another red auto coupe with the chin spolier so they Swapped bumpers on the cars. The only thing missing on the second attempt to pick up the car was 2 underbody diffusers. I have to say thankyou to gsedanman for posting the Pictures of the diffusers. You should have seen me - it was comical, the tech comes over and tells me that the diffusers are on the car so I look under and can't find the ones in front of the rear wheels. The tech says there aren't any in front of the rear wheels so I reach into my pocket and show him gsedanman's post WITH PICTURES!! These I say, they should look just like this! The tech was still in denial - he thought maybe those only came on the sedan. Finally, I asked the sales manager to show me a Factory Aero coupe and Low and Behold there they were. I am bringing the car back this week to have them put on. I really felt as though I knew more about the coupe from reading this forum in the last month than any salesman at that dealership and more than at least one of their auto technichians. But enough about them......
The car is AWESOME!!!! Turns on a dime and has power at the ready, anytime, anygear! When I drive this car there is a direct connection from the gas pedal to my cheeks - Gas pedal goes down - cheeks go up in a big ear-to-ear grin
I've also caught the reverse walk syndrome - after parking the car I can't help but walk backwards away from it.
I love the sound of the car, not so much the tone but the volume. Open the window and hit it and it sounds like a racecar, close the windows and drive it like you're following the break-in schedule and there is no interruption over the sound of the radio.
Radio - Have you ever sat in a car with a fabulous radio? You say "WOW this sounds awesome!!!!! so detailed, so tight"
Well, you will not be saying that with this radio! It sounds "OK" not crappy, just doesn't impact you.
I put 300 miles on the car in 2 days and have changed my oil out.
Last night at 9:30pm I asked my wife if she wanted to just "go for a ride"
Life is better now......

wow, looks good dude, i really like your color choice. glad everything got worked out... god knows it aint an easy process with this car, since they are hard to come by... especially the manual ones.

ack! you changed your oil out at 300miles? My understanding is factory oil for brand new cars are different from typical engine oils to help seat your valves and break in our engine properly.

Re: diffusers: They channel the air out from under the car to give the car "zero Lift" . On lesser cars, as the speed increases, air builds up under the chasis causing the car to "Float" and have less downforce. The under body diffusers are standard if your car was ordered Aero from the factory. To see pictures and find out all about them do a search and look for gsedanman's great thread on them. They just bolt on and can be added to any coupe quite easily. Here is a link.

Re: Clear Corners - With the Red, the orange does not stand out as bad IMO than all the other colors. If I had any other color then Definitely!!! They look cool.
Thank you for all the response, It's nice to feel welcome. I was driving the car the other day and I was just thinking how great it was shifting up through the gears. Right now I don't care if my car can beat this car or that car or if another G35C's dyno is higher. I just love dancing around the corners with her (VCD off, of course) and feel her push hard on my back as I glide onto the interstate.

Again, very nice Don. I'm still eyeing the BSM on yours. Its doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. As you know, I didn't get the BSM, but otherwise we have just about identical rides. I'm leaving the side lenses stock because as you observed, they blend better into the red. I don't think clears look as nice on red as other colers. Be cool.

Have to love the red. Only about 750 red 6mt's made in 2003. I opted for the 18 in. chromes and other extra's. You will get a ton of looks and questions about it!!!
