Sorry to see that accident and hope all is well with your health.

I would have to agree with the ealier poster that the speed of the other vehicle was no where near 50mph. If it was your car would look at least as bad as your S2000.

Ok, the appraiser came out yesterday to check out the car. He of course said damage can be fixed. He said the trunk, bumper, tailights rear fenders will have to be replaced. I asked him about the frame being bent, what must be done. He said these cars arent like to older cars where the frame is one solid piece and that this frame is built in sections, then welded together. Rear portion of frame must be replaced.

Does that sound right? I no nothing about this kind of stuff.

^i know my frame rails are being replaced in the front of my car i dont if its possible to replace sections. I do know you can pull the frame and realign it. But for the back part being replace for other parts im not too sure. Im sure someone on hear can chime in.

The rear "sub-frame" is made out of aluminum and can be replaced. I just had mine replaced....as well as a bunch of other stuff and surpisingly the car feels just like it did before the accident.

Glad you are ok! Good Luck!

It should i wouldnt worry too much about it.. the beauty of import cars is that they are very workable, and sadly repairable cuz it would be nice to just be able to get a new car, but in some places insurance is not a must so i guess its a good thing our cars are so repairable.. but again it should feel fine.. some a$$hole did a hit and run on my G 4 days after i got it.. his trailer hitch punched through my bumper, bumper beam and core support, and i hadnt called my insurance yet to insure my G... 2.5k came out of my pocket to fix it.. and even then there are some things i just left damaged like my headlight.. the bottom of which is slightly cracked but oh well... car is fine now but also have them check your suspension, my friend got his rx-7 rear ended by a truck and for some reason his suspension got really messed up, even tho there was no apparant damage.. he had to replace the springs, shocks and a couple other things... accidents really do damage a lot of the car even tho u dont see it, so be sure to take it to a good shop.

My car was a total loss.

My car was a total loss. While our cars damage was similar, most of my damage occured lower on the car (more deformation of the bumper and both rear fenders) than it appears yours did.

Neither myself nor my lawyer have been able to find out who hit me.

Ah. So what would be the advantages if I were able to find out who hit me? Pretty much it would be my word against his.Id say he did it. He'd say he didnt. Then what? The truck was red, and there is no red paint on my car. So i'm S.O.L. correct? Should I just not waste time on finding the guy?

My car was parked the other day and some old lady hit it and left the scene, it was not the G I drove tho, it was my M roadster. And the cop was opting to not write a report!, cops will do anything to do less work.

Also ask insurance to cover your chiropractic care, I was in a low speed accident now my hip hurts on long journys. So go get yourself check out.

Good luck

No, if you find the guy, insurance company will do the investigation for you, its not as easy as paint work, its direction of travel, type of damage and damage on the other guy's car. If you are lucky enough to find the guy, insurance will do the rest

Ok, so I just talked to insurance and she faxed me the estimate that the appraiser wrote up. And its a spankin' grand total of....

$9,736.04

That includes everything and anything, but im sure the body shop will find a few extras or so to add to the 49 item long list

still..

Yeah I'd also have to say that damage looks more like 20 or 25 MPH than 50. At 50 MPH with your car stopped.. I highly doubt he'd be driving his truck away from the accident, since his radiator would be blown to smitherenes and he'd probably have some structural damage to the truck too. The damage would have had to been absorbed somewhere, and since he drove away and your car wasn't that crushed... chances are that he was going much slower.

Hopefully everything works out and you get your G back in just as good of condition as it was in prior to the accident. I wish you good luck.
