Random question about side mirror
Random question about side mirror
In a previous post, I wrote that my passenger outside mirror bracket has cracked. I haven't gotten around to fixing the problem since I am currently in Korea right now but plan to fix it right when I get back. There is no real issue except for the fact that it looks weird, and there is some air leaking through.
The only part that I need is the passenger mirror bracket. The plastic piece that connects the mirror to the pillar. The glass, mirror, housing, wiring, etc. all works perfectly fine.
I've researched online, and this is the cheapest place I could find outside mirrors. Is this what I am looking for?

Thanks.
I know for sure I won't be able to find any place to buy the plastic piece alone (which was probably only like 50 dollars at most). I plan to spend around 150, but am looking for the cheapest solutions.
Thanks again.

You have to buy the whole mirror... and that link you posted is the cheapest place to get the part. They're real friendly at that place and they ship the part out fast as hell. Mine was at my door like 6 days after I ordered it.
I had to do this same repair on my car when some punks maliciously broke my drivers side mirror off of it while I was parked at Fenway park last summer.
Once you get the part, you will have to disassemble it and remove the black plastic support bracket(the one that is cracked on your car) from the new mirror. In order to do this, you will have to take apart the wiring harness from the mirror and remove each individual wire from the harness, because the plug on the end of the harness is too big to fit through the black support piece when you try to back it out through there. Once the wires have been backed out of that support piece, you can install it onto your old painted shell and mirror and then feed the wires back through it, and reinsert them into the harness plug. You'll want to mark each individual wire so that you know which spot they go into in the harness plug.
You'll also have to take the inside door cover off as well as removing the tweeter on the door and the triangular rubber seal in the upper corner of the door in the process of fixing it.
It's really not that hard, but if you don't have some direction it takes a while to figure out.... particularly how to remove each wire from the plug harness.
Tools you'll need:
-screwdrivers
-ratchet set
-Sewing needle(for taking apart the harness plug)
-Electrical Tape(preferably in a light color such as yellow or white which you can write on with a pen and be able to see your writing on it)
-scissors
Hit me up on AIM if you have any questions and I'll answer any specifics that you may have about the install.

You might notice that your door rattles a little bit after reinstalling the door cover too. Mine did this, so I took it back off and made some washers for around the screws and pop rivets out of double-sided tape, and that resolved the rattling.
