Insurance..... c**ksuckers

yadda yadda.... fast forward.

My adjuster went to meet my collision shop owner to discuss my damages. The adjuster completely agreed to the paint/labor time for my rear left panel. Great +1. He also agreed for a full alignment. Great +2. However, with my OEM 19" that took damage he only agreed to a re-conditioning. He is not willing to pay for a new OEM at almost $900. The tire took some minor damage, but I told him I don't feel comfortable. Even though it took no slash damage it still took blunt trauma. He said take the tire off and we will look on the inside to see if there is any sidewall damage.

Worst part, the other driver is at fault. The police report indicates the other driver stating fault, but yet Geico does not want to pay out. Why the f**k am I paying a premium for collision and comprehensive. Even worse I have a deductible on it. The other insurance company sucks so I went straight to Geico to handle the matter directly in re-couping costs. If Geico has the ***** to increase my premium at a later time I'm going to lose it.

Hence, the c**ksucker comment. Those of you working for insurance companies are in the wrong business. You must receive so much flak. God damn car is an 05 and I am getting treated as if I am driving a 1985 Datsun.

I would have sued the other insurance agency if they won't pay on your claim.

I had the same problem with a rim on my Explorer. The insurance didn't want to pay. I call them and asked for a letter stating that they don't want to pay for a new rim and they assume all responsibility if the reconditioned wheel fails. Guess how fast they changed their story and got me a new wheel.
You have to play hardball. Otherwise, they'll try to save every penny putting you at risk.
Hope you'll get it resolved to your satisfaction.

Why are you collecting from your own Insurance company when the other driver was at fault? I wouldn't give a dam how much the other Insurance company sucked. Get them to repair your car to your satisfaction without paying one penny out of your pocket.

Well you gotta look at it this way....the insurance is out to make money! Post pics of the rim because I'd totally understand the adjuster's decision if it were minor and just because you don't "feel comfortable" doesn't jutisfy giving you a new rim. Pics please

++++++++1?

That's why you have an Insurance company, you let THEM fight for you! If the other guy has insurance, you should not be dealing with yours.

The other insurance is so horrendous it just came off a watchlist for being a bad insurance company. Plus the other driver works for a taxi company up in CT and I live in NY. What most likely will happen is that they will force me to meet at one of their claims shops. At which point, will most likely low-ball all of the damages.

Rather then dealing with this extended process I will take it up with Geico my insurance and let them go into segregation with the other insurance company. I have a police report indicating the other driver stating fault. Once I send all of these documents into Geico they will then persue re-claiming my deductible and their pay-out. I've heard people having tough times persuing against taxi companies.

As for the pictures I will get something.

subrogation.

And I agree. Sometimes it's better to get your policy to pay and then have them subrogate... ...if time is valuable to you. You're paying for coverage on your car. You don't have to be at fault to utilize it.

Thank you for the correction. The insurance rep kept saying or at least I was interpreting it as segregation.

Let's see how it panes out. If it works out I will recommend it, if it doesn't I will advise against it.

i would have the other parties' insurance pay for everything and not have yours go after theirs. i used to manage a body shop and it's a headache ever trying to fight for the money

I don't know about New York but here in California, you have the right to pick the bodyshop for the repair not the insurance company.

Not sure in your area but:
1) I believe you can take it anywhere you like for estimates. If they want to look at your car to verify, they need to advise you of a branch location near you. Or come to you not the other way around
2) I understand you want the wheel/tire replaced but if it the wheel can be fixed for cheaper, the insurance is well within it's rights to do that. Same with the tire. Unless you prove to them that both are compromised structurally.
3) Dealing with insurance is like dealing with used car salesmen. Everything is negotiable and they are trying to save a buck like everyone else. It's a business

In order to make sure you are being treated fairly, you have to know what your rights are and what you are doing in general. As such w/ most things in life.

Thanks for all the points. I attempted to reach out for their insurance again today. The company itself filed their claim today. My vehicle is at my choice collision shop, which has already started work on the vehicle. If I maintain and provide Geico's estimate to them then so be it. The panel, door, bumper labor and paint + reconditioned wheel + full wheel alignment will be $1,700. If I were to get a new wheel + new tire that number jumps to $3,400.

So far, their insurance company said if you provide us with pre-work pictures and the final bill they will pay for it. I won't know for sure until tomorrow.

If they disagree then I will leave the matter with my insurance and let them sort out the matter.

Yes here in NY you can pick your collision shop for all work. However, having them meet you there requires a little bit of teeth pulling.
