GRRRRrrrr.... Damn Infiniti Service Dept Scratched My Rear Rims
Juuuuust great.
As I'd posted in another thread... I reluctantly brought my G Coupe in to Infiniti of Norwood(Massachusetts) today to have the rear axel TSB repair performed on my rear axel as well as to grease up the creaking sunroof. I made sure to tell them not to wash the car so as to avoid scratches being added to the car and rims by haphazard car-wash personelle.
Much to my displeasure, upon turning in my loaner car and performing a routine inspection of the vehicle once I had my keys back... I spotted that my rear rims had been all scratched up around the sockets where the lugs go. Ther eare circular spin abbrasions in the sockets from the technician overspinning the lugs with an air gun in the socket, as well as some chips and nicks around the edge of the socket where a sloppy air-gunman probably missed the lug while trying to put the gun on it.
Unfortunately, by the time I picked the vehicle up it was already about 7:15 at night and the Service Manager was no longer there, so I was only able to speak to the Sales manager and show him the damage... and he assured me that they would be able to take care of it. So I have to call back tomorrow and speak with the Service Manager to get this whole mess resolved. I was borderline thinking of taking the loaner back for the night and leaving my car there so that they couldn't say that I did the damage.... but I don't really feel safe leaving the car there any longer than it already has.
This is precisely the reason why I do all my own repairs and maintenance on everything possible... to the wreckless abandon that these people call "service" leaving a lasting negative impact on my personally prized vehicle.
I'm sure other board members have dealt with this same issue in the past, since we're all G finatics. Does anyone wish to offer any words of wisdom or advice before I tear into the service manager tomorrow?

There is no way in hell I'm going to lie down, play dead and just live with it.
Well they have a guy whose job it is is to go over every single millimeter of the car before they lay a hand on it to mark off damage. This guy marks off the smallest little tiny scuffs and scratches on any part of the cars exterior and documents it.. and he didn't document this... plus the marks on the rims are only on the rear rims that they took off to perform the rear-axel clicking TSB today. He marked off this little 2 millimeter scuff on the underneath of my passengers side frame beneath the door, so I don't see how he could have missed huge circular black marks in my rims where some idiot with an impact wrench kept spinning the lug nut until it cut the heck out of my rim as well as chipping away chunks of paint and rim around the holes for the lugs on both rear wheels. The demage is not mind-boggling, but considering that the rims were perfect before this and now they are blatantly and obviously marred to the point where anyone who looks at the car will notice it immediately... I'm going to do everything imagineable to make sure that they rectify their mistake. I also clearly told them not to wash the car for the exact reason of me not wanting to find any scratches on the paint or rims as a result of careless car washers.
The same guy who marks off existing damage to my car before I take it also does the same thing to the loaner car, and he marks off every little scuff on the rims of that thing too... yet he didn't mark off any damage to my rims before the visit.
The sales manager told me that they would at least have the rims repaired because they have a specialist who takes care of these sorts of things, but he said i still have to talk to the service manager.
She better not try any funny business because I'm about as **** of a person as has ever existed about all my cars.

This is exactly why when I take my car in for work I always ask the service manager who will be working on my car and I talk to the individual and slide him/her 10/20 dollars to be extra careful. I know we should not have to do this but I feel it is worth it

If they don't work with you, chances are you'll just run around in circles unless you're willing to sue.
