Wow. That's bad times.
I recall one time drivng through 8" deep water last year with the AEM CAI. Luckily I had the bypass valve, but it was pretty damn scary

Sorry to hear that. I hope you get that resolved. I think your insurance would the one to cover it and not Infiniti because Infiniti is technically not liable for that.

Wow, where to guys live to have puddles that are 2 FEET DEEP on the FREEWAY?! Crazy.

Absolutely agree with GT-Ron - 10-12" of water at 10-15 MPH is an ideal situation for hydrolock to occur. I have a minivan (yes, let the ridicule begin) and I accidentally hydrolocked the engine last year driving through a flood. I was driving for several miles through about 12" of water and I was doing okay until I got above about 15 MPH (tires were letting go of the road - thought it would be better to speed up - dumb). The van's intake is much higher than our coupe's intake, so it stands to reason that you would hydrolock. Btw, I had a friend tow me to his house where we let the van sit for several hours before trying to start it again. Miraculously it started, and after running for half an hour or so everything was fine. I replaced the filter the next day, but I've driven it over 10000 miles since with no problems (knock on wood).

Look on the bright side though - you're going to actually get your money's worth out of your insurance policy. Even if they jack your rates, it won't even begin to cover their liability for this incident for several years. Kill the man! :-)

Exactly.

If you dipped the nose in it enough to make the water "break" over the hood, there is no way even the stock box is going to be able to drain it out. The stock box is a good design, however it's designed with cool air in mind, rather than saving it from water immersion (think of an old Chevy air cleaner). Sure the G will take 8-10" of water, but it must be at a dead crawl.

I thought I was going slow enough, but then my tires also began to loose grip, so I gave it some gas. This created a surge of water in front of the car that came over the hood.

Wish I could turn back the clock and just take a different route.

Just plain sucks.

Thanks for all of your input and support.
