brake performance

hi guys....
just wondering if you had the same issue.
i have a 04 coupe automatic. stock (non brembo) rotors and brakes.
i notice that at low speeds like 5mph, the brakes seem grabby. makes me jerk a lot. it's been doing this since the beginning. is this normal?

will getting new brake pads like hawk hps alleviate this problem? i've heard hawk pads squeak, can someone verify?
thanks for any help.

I just experienced it on the '05 G35x loaner, and attributed it to it being a very good braking system. Don't hate... Appreciate! Work on the smoothiness by controling your foot. I sometimes drive my mother's Taurus and I really have to use all my leg muscles to just slow the car down, so seriously consider this an advantage and not a problem.

yeah, i'm not hating. trust me, i appreciate the brakes power...had to use it a few times. i drive a pathfinder during the week so i've gotten use to the truck. i just wanted to see if others were experiencing the same thing.

and if the hawk hps pads really do squeak that much and if the hawk pads alleviate the "grabbing" feeling.

HAWK HPS pads don't squeak. I have them. Make sure the installation is done right and your golden.

It could be that your rotors are warn..that usually causes a un smooth stop feels bumpy almost. take your brake calipers off and look at your rotors make sure they are smooth.

Why would you change pads to the ones with less grab? I could see why you would "brake jerk" after coming from a pathfinder. The thing I don't understand, is why did I experience it on the '05 G35x loaner coming from my '04 brembos? I guess the stock brakes are pretty good.

From what I remember, the 03-04's (non-brembos) were very grabby. They fixed it on the 05-06. However, you guys mentioned the 05 G35X, so I'm not entirely sure about that one.
