questions about a speeding ticket

When you get one, does your insurence go up automatically? Or do they contact you about it?

If I take traffic school and I dont get points will it still go up?

Depends on insurance company and state. If the ticket holds and you get points, it will be on your driving record. Will it affect your insurance?? Depends, if the insurance company does a random DMV search if your ID comes up with the points it may increase it. Take defensive driving if this happens it should pull off 4 points from your license. Well I would take it anyway because it reduces your insurance premium anyway.

Not worth the chance, if you qualify for Traffic School, take it! Many states like CA you can not go if you attended less than 18 mos previously.
It will keep your record clear.
CA also has a provision for written declaration, where you state your case on paper and send it in. The officer still has an opportunity to contest it, with the judge giving the final decision. This is good if you don't qualify for TS.

Just like hoping the cop will not show up in court, you can hope he does not respond to the declaration. At least you save a trip to court, and possibly the judge will still reduce your fine.
CA does not advertise the written declaration, it's in fine print, probably other states have it.
Most ins. companies will ding you your point(s) on your next renewal. The biggees are usually automated to do that. But I have heard of exceptions.
Good luck whatever you decide.

IF I ONLY HAD THAT TICKET ASSASSIN VISOR THING A COUPLE DAYS AGO!
It was at night and I was making a left turn out of 99ranch off of clairmont mesa blvd. Got a ticket for going over a "simulated island," but he let me go for making a left turn even though there was a sign saying no left turn haha. STUPID, i get a ticket for something i really didn't do on purpose shieeeet.

+ 1 online....what would normally take you 8 hrs of classroom only took me less than 45 mins online with breaks. They allow you to take the test and retake it later on but hopefully you wont have to do it again.
