High-pitched ring?
High-pitched ring?
New member here, so please pardon if this has been addressed before. I've got the 6MT Coupe and has anyone else ever noticed(while driving with the windows down) a high pitched ringing sound coming from the engine while goosing through the gears? Doesn't sound wrong, but I'm curious to know if this is a problem? Thanks guys - BTW - this site is awesome!

Re: High-pitched ring?
I've heard it, still hear it ... it's more like a brief whine or whistle than a ring, right? I believe it is the intake. However, I've been wondering if it's actually part of the vacuum system. It happens to me when I accelerate, not necessarily even hard. Does anyone know if the vacuum system has anything to do with the fuel system, or performance in general? I haven't been feeling like my car performs like a 280hp car (even if it's only 230-240 at the wheels), and have been wondering if this sound has anything to do with that, especially if it is more than just the intake. I've asked two dealers to look at it/listen to it, but neither has found anything to fix with it. The loaner auto sedan I had this week felt faster than my 6MT coupe, and I know part of that is due to the way the power surges in the auto, but just getting to 60 or 70 MPH seems like it takes longer in my coupe even with good, crisp shifts. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone? Bueller?

Re: High-pitched ring?
unplug er for some time to reset the ecu since you have had it for some time.
the whistle thing, yep I have it, very faint squeek on the slightest of gas during gear shifting.
since you's have it and I have it ... I'd have to say it's normal,.
not too worry dudes

Re: High-pitched ring?
When you can hear it best is when your window is down and your beside a wall/barrier/etc. I can hear it at the top end of each rev. Especially in 1st and 2nd hear.
Anyone else notice this?

Re: High-pitched ring?
This doesn't concern anything we are talking about here, but I notice your name is Gatlanta. I know someone from atlanta and believe it or not, I truly hate that person more than anythign in the world. For that reason, I kind of hate atlanta too and all of georgia. Yeah that sounds a bit extreme, childish, and crazy, but no one understands it except me. So........if you see anyone driving a red rsx over there, please break their windows and I will send you a check. Thanks for your help...

Wow, MNDZA, you shouldn't hold a grudge like that. Besides, If I break the windows of every red rsx in Atlanta, I could get into some trouble. And dude, don't hate all of Atlanta because of one person!
Re: High-pitched ring?
I have the same thing. When I asked the dealer about it, they took it for a test drive and said they didn't hear anything. And my wife said I was just crazy. While it's nice to know I'm not hearing things, It's going to drive me crazy not knowing what this is.
I notice it the most when I'm accelerating between 2200 and 3000 rpm or when I pop the gas at the same rpms.
I'd suggest taking it to the dealer to have it documented. After enough people complain they might actually start hearing it and fix it or at least figure out what it is.
