G35 1-2 shift?

The G's transmission is just really difficult to drive smoothly, whether you are driving normally or sporty.
For normal driving on the 1-2 shift you gotta push the clutch in, make the shift, and let the clutch out gently and smoothly while applying some gas. There are variables that affect the timing though, such as the rpm's at which you shift, the status of the A/C (if A/C is running hard, rpm's drop faster), if you are on an uphill or downhill, etc.
The key is timing and finesse. You'll get better and better at it with time, but it's important to add a bit of throttle while letting the clutch out so the clutch engages when the revs aren't dropping too fast. It's hard to explain but practice makes perfect....and as others said, don't overthink it...just let experience have its effect.

I have no trouble in any gear at any range, but I can offer this; I do stomp the clutch hard from 1 to 2 and shift very fast; I don't clutch as far for other gears... This is not done only for the G, I shifted previous Nissans & Toyota's the same way... (240Z. 280Z, 300Z, and several Supras through the years...)

problem solved
OK guys there are two things going on here:
1. the transmission isn't fully broken in for about 17,000 miles, that means the notchiness will be noticable for about that long.
The notchiness will go away at about 17,000 miles, it did on mine.
2. The clutch shift point is very high in the stroke, and that combined with a short engagement area causes rough shifts (your foot is moving very fast by the time you get to the engagement area because of the long stroke it takes to get there). The clutch can't be significantly adjusted directly because it is hydraulically actuated.
I've cobbled together a small kit to lower the engagement point, pretty much solving problem #2. If anyone in So Cal wants to try this and report on it, drop me a PM.

same here and definitely never a problem when goign fast

thats alot of unnecessary wear... by skip shifting, you are harming the synchro-mesh... might wanna just shift from 1st into 2nd.. not letting go of the clutch and then shifting to 3rd... that will prevent the unnecessary wear
