Got a Merc C230 yesterday
So my G is at the dealership getting 60K service done at 50K and I've got a Merc C230 as a courtesy car. All i can say is WOW, I' glad I didn't get THIS car. Just a testament to the fact the the G is the best car in its class for the money. Thanks for listening.
Yea, I know what you mean. I am carless right now. Got in big accident with a city bus running a red. Im getting a huge settlement right now and can have the car of my choice. (reasonably)
I wanted a benz because they are just classy. For the price range I was looking for, the C230 falls into that category. But NOOOO fun. Great cruising car. But other than the emblem on the hood, NOT my car of choice for fun and sporty.
So... G5MT it is!

My 01 Mercedes C320 had only 215 HP. It had a lot of problems too,
dealer replaced transmission after I broke it with "regular" driving.
When I traded it in, it died on the lot after I left.
The G is much faster & Higher Quality build.
The C Class now including C320 & C230 are made in US, NC I believe.
So It's US car.

trust me i would know... i dont know about way back when because the oldest one my family owns is an 03 which is the 55... i've never had any problems what so ever with the Benz at all, any of them... no creeks, rattles, the leather doesnt get all messed up after a while... the ride is incredable.. the throttle response is very nice and clean... the 55 is just flat out fast... the 500 has a crap load of torque and the 350 is also nice, the 7spd tranny helps out a lot... the car itself is very nice, elegant and in no way compares to a G... i dont know about older Benz's but even a C230 right now has MUCH better quality then the G... remember it may say Infiniti, but we own nothing more then a nice Nissan with leather. TThe Engine is nice, and the lines of the car are unbelievibly beautiful, and its definately as eye turner, but to say pur cars are higher quality then a Benz, is just flat out stupidity.. They are ASSEMBLED here in the US (Funny the Germans are using Americans as their cheap labor market, literally) but all the parts are still brought in from Germany and AMG are still made and assembled over there too

as far as the c230 goes, it isnt as much of a driver's car as the g, although materials quality and refinement are imo competitive if not better, little more is. in terms of overall design inside and out the g35 owns the c230. in terms of reliability i dont think you can reasonably argue that benzes in general are more reliable than infinitis in general, and yes i know that much is a generalization.
while we're generalizing i would say yes the g35 is a nissan with leather, but guess what? that means its also a skyline. there's nothing wrong with nissan motor corp's products, they're competitive where they are (eg z, g, m, etc) and they are reliable. It would be like saying lexus is a hyped up toyota (yes i know lexus japan was recently created) and therefore isnt competitive..please, mercedes cant touch lexus/toyota's build quality, materials, reliability. just because nissan doesnt make 100k+ products doesnt make them any less of a company. pretty much anyone who could have bought a g35 could have bought a mercedes. the g35 is a very competitive product.

I love my G, i like Nissan, they make GREAT products, or else i wouldnt have bought one, but i knew what i was getting into when i bought, i knew it wouldnt be anything more then a Nissan. Infiniti dealerships are for the most part a joke and charge double what Nissan would for the same service, why i service my car at a Nissan dealership.. the attension to detail is horrible and most of the time the service guys give u a huge run around, which is something you'd never see at a MB or BMW dealership, again it all comes down to over-all quality and refinement... if they're cars were ****ty and most people though they were problematic Fletcher Jones Motor Cars in Newport wouldnt have sold 1011 cars in december alone. My dads hadhis CLK for almost 4 years how and to date hasnt had to take it in for anything other then brakes and oil
competative yes... quality for dollar amount? yes better then mercedes but none-the-less mercedes dispite their price offer quality no Nissan can match
