Coupe in the SNOW today

I drove in the snow for the first time today, ranging from 2" to 7" of snow, some slush, some ice in a variety of situations and I must say I was impressed with the road handling of the G35 coupe. Only twice did my traction light come on and only briefly as the car corrected for some things I was doing on purpose. In every day regular driving I didn't have any issues with snow.

I should NOTE that I have the stock suspension with 17" all season tires from the factory, not the 18" summer onlys. So far I've been pleased, just wanted to pass this on to others who might be wondering about handling in snow and ice conditions.

Yeah you MUST have the 17"s cause the 18"s are useless. Trust me I know!

That's why I said that I have the factory 17" all seasons in the second paragraph above. They seem to do real well in the snow so far.

Re: Coupe in the SNOW today

I drove in some light snow with the 18's today for the first time. Just a little snow and slush sticking on the roads. Luckily I made it home before there was much ice. I didn't have the slip light come on, but I did feel the VDC kick in several times. I don't think I'd ever driven more carefully in my life.

The part that worried me the most was the stop and go traffic on a long incline. Once I got past that part ok I knew I shouldn't have any trouble. But I'm not going in tomorrow!

Hey KenDude, are you from the KC/Overland Park area? The reason I asked is because I went to your website and saw you had JO Kansas tags. I am also from there an just picked up my new G35c on Wednesday. Luckly I made it home before it started snowing.

I live in MIAMI, so I have no idea why 17" will be better than 18" in the snow. Down here in Miami, the bigger the better.

Re: Coupe in the SNOW today

I agree with ya Mandy. The bigger the better. I will put 19" or 20" with wider tires on mine probably over the summer time. My car has been sitting in the garage the last 2 days because of the snow. The roads are now clear but, I do not want to get the car dirty....lol.

Re: Coupe in the SNOW today

Not only am I from Overland Park, but if you got your car at Major Infiniti, they tried to sell me your car. No Nav right? They kept pushing it and we kept pushing back because we wanted Nav. Did you at least get the $500 off they offered me on that car?

You should stop by after you get the car and we'll take pics of both of them together!

Re: Coupe in the SNOW today

Ken,
Yes I purchased it from Major Infinity Wednesday and no it does not have Nav. However this may not be the same car they were pushing onto you because I ordered this car back in November 2002 and it arrived Tuesday 1/14/03. I picked it up the very next day......the day of our first snowfall lol. I enjoy it very much and look to have many happy years with it. I wish I was given a discount but, I ended up paying MSRP.

I would love to get together and take pics. Let me know when and how you want to get together.

Re: Coupe in the SNOW today

mandy the reason why smaller wheels are better on snow is because you want a less wide and a higher profile tire so you can "cut through" the snow and not get stuck.....
In miami it never snows, only rain, so you want a wider tire with lots of rain channels so that you dont hydroplane when it rains.
