Accident: Need Rear Bumper [PICS incld...its pretty ugly]
Accidents just happen. But, why, oh why, do they have to happen to me?? Anyway, I was in an accident today in which my rear bumper has crumpled. I guess the IIHS report is true, talking about how a small 5 mph fender bender can result in disproportionate damage to your bumper. I just need advice from all those who have already damaged their bumper.
(1) How long does it take to obtain a factory bumper? Should I order through the shop, do it myself online, or obtain it from a dealer?
(2) How much do you think this will cost (including paint job)? I've done searches on this forum and I've gotten ranges from $250-$1000
(3) I was thinking about getting an aftermarket bumper, but there seems to be very limited options...only ones I could find would be the ugly veilside rear bumper with the diagonal line in the middle. Anyone know of worthwhile/goodlooking alternatives? I've been searching (a whole lot actually) but I'm wondering if anyone knows something that I don't. Any suggestions are welcome.
(4) Do you think I need a new reinforcement bar? I heard those run from 3-4k. Will driving with a dented reinforcement steel bar like the one I have be dangerous if I get into another rear-ended accident?

I think the impul bumper is pretty much the same as veilside. both have that diagonal line that ruins the rest of the body lines on the car

If you want a stock bumper, I can sell you mine. I'm getting the Impul rear bumper and I'll have an extra stock bumper left over. But it's Ivory Pearl, You'll need to get it repaited! Wouldn't it be nice if it were the same color, you wouldn't need to touch it! Too bad it's not the caes. Well, let me know.

Hey, that's exactly what happened to me! The damage looks almost identical. I actually backed into something. But yeah, my taillight was cracked too. A local autobody shop did an excellent job of repairing it, you can't even tell. My damage ended about a millimeter away from the rear right quarter panel. The light by itself was about $300!
