Help car won't start

Well this is the second time my car has died. The car started fine when I went to drive to work but when I got off work and tried to start the car it won't start up. I can hear it crank and then it just dies and service engine light and all that comes on.Headlights would turn on but my keyfob doesn't work. This is not a battery problem because I tried to jump start it and nothing happens. This is the second time I've had this problem. I took it to the dealership last time and when they restarted the computer the problem went away. Problem right now is I'm 200 miles over the 60,000 warranty. Any help would be appreciated. I am so sick and tired of this car.

It may or may not help, but here is the ECU reset thread. You may want to keep an eye on the "RED" arming light when you are attempting to start the car. If the said light is enunciated as you attempt to start you car with no success, it may be a bad chip in the key. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply but which red arming light are you talking about?

he's talking about the security light that is on the top left part of the dashboard. It flashes when you lock your doors and if it turns on when you turn on the car's power, it means the car is not detecting the appropriate transponder chip.

I thought it would be the battery at first because when I went into the car I noticed the passenger seat warmer light was on (does that drain the battery at all?) The engine cranks but won't start. If it was the battery then why would my headlights turn on?

The passenger seat heater will not turn on unless you put the key in the on position. So that should not drain your battery. Check your security light. Does teh car start at all? or does it just crank? It sounds like a key transponder problem. So check your security light, see if its red when you turn your keys to on. Let us know so we can better help you.

It sounds like the dealership screwed you over. They op'd for the quick fix rather than actually replacing something. Typically most of the "no start problems" I see people having stems from either a bad key (try your spare key) or a bad transponder brain inside the car. Other than that, as mentioned above, there's a number of basic mechanical problems that will cause your car to stall. You do still have a powertrain warrenty, so some major problems are still covered..

It was the closest dealership I could go to, being an hour away. I'm located in Lake Charles,LA. I'm gonna try to do the ecu reset and if that doesn't work then I'll have it towed back to the dealership and tell them about the bad key problems. How many miles does the powertrain warranty cover up to?
