Oh I forgot to ask.

Anyone have good feedback with the paintscratch.com kit?

It comes with a base coar, clear coat, and laquer.

Ive been thinking about either going to the dealership for some cheap touch up paint ($10) or getting that kit from paintscratch.com for 40 total.

just curious... Were you at SC Village yesterday? I saw a black coupe there yesterday with a scratch in the same location and about the same size. might have been you...or someone else that did the same thing you did.

this gives you an excuse to get a new (aftermarket) bumper!

A lip would probably cover that up.

HAHA yeah!

I actually got into a very similar accident and got the same dent.

I hit a low pole that was already hit. so it was already slanted. I couldn't see the pole as a I was pulling into the parking space and BAM!!! I hit the bottom of the pole which pushed the bumper upwards.

I went to a body shop and they could pop it out but they'd still have to repaint the bumper.

My concern was that after they pop the dent, you will see the imperfections on the creases around the dented area.

I saw a 2006 g35 coupe bumper that just got the same treatment and I can see the imperfection on the lip when you look carefully.

That's why I got KurumaZ

It sucks that hit the pole when my car is only 3 weeks old.

Im planning on trying to fix it by simply trying push to dent back in its place by going in the bumper and pressuring outward. Then, with some touch-up paint, maybe it wont be that noticeable. I know touch up paint would be pretty bad in this situation but as long as its not noticeable I wont care.

Bad idea?
No, not a bad idea. I'd definitely try that myself. A little warmth from a hair drier would probably help. I'd also try a spray touchup.

I just got my rear bumer punched in... Mine was more of an extreme case compared to yours. But I was able to use a hair dyer to heat it back up and to push it back to a close original form. As for the scratches, I was able to use 2000grit sand paper and wet sand it down followed by a pass with 3M Rubbing Compound. My scratches looked like yours, luckily i was able to sand and buff it out. When you're pushing the dent out, recommend using something with a soft end. Good luck

Sorry to see what happened. When I first got my car, the same thing happened to me when I jumped a curb when my VDC was off (very stupid of me). You should be able to pop the dent out, but there may be stress cracks in the paint that could eventually flake off unfortunately. Try to buff it out with some 3M rubbing compound first. If it is too deep then it will probably need paint of some kind.

Since mine was down on the lower bumper, I decided to try the following on mine. You may feel uncomfortable doing this, but you will have a great sense of accomplishment if you are successful.

Purchase the following (should be ~$50 plus shipping):

1. Go to http://www.paintworldinc.com/ get a custom can of spray paint matched to your color. You should have the color code for your car.
2. Get the clear coat: http://www.paintworldinc.com/product...ku=DUP.A-7480S. This stuff has a better spray pattern than the duplicolor stuff that you get at Walmart.
3. Get the clear coat blender: http://www.paintworldinc.com/product...u=DUP.A-19301S. This stuff is very key in getting the perfect finish. Without this, don't even attempt this process.

The rest is pretty straigtforward, but takes a certain level of finesse. You may want to take a few practice runs on a plastic sheet.

A. lightly wet sand it down 400 grit, 800 grit, 1000 grit. Clean it off well with fresh water and dry thoroughly. Make sure that you clean off all the dust.
B. Mask off the general area. What I did was mask off anything a foot away from the area being sprayed. When you spray the paint you don't want to hit the masking tape or you will get a spray line.
C. This is where you should practice beforehand. Start off will a light coat of your color. Let it dry for ~5 minutes. This first coat will be kind of "rough". Spray the second coat a little heavier. The second coat should be less rough. Wait five minutes, then spray a final coat. The final coat should look fairly smooth when it is wet. But it will dry to a matte finish. The best way to describe it, is to move the can fast enough to avoid running, but slow enough to get a smooth even "wet" coat (with no orange peel).
D. After letting it dry for ~10 minutes. Spray a light coat of the clear. Again it will be kind of rough. Wait ~5 minutes, then spray a heavier coat of the clear. By this time the clear should be pretty smooth. But you can put another coat as needed. Let it dry for 10 minutes.
E. This is when you say "sh*t", look at the spray marks. What you see is the new paint meeting up with the old paint and it looks like crap. This is when you use the that 3M blender product. That stuff is like magic. Spray a light coat along the edge of the spray mark and you just see it blend right in. Don't use too much though. First time I used it was really quite amazing.

At this point, unmask everything. Check to see if you have overspray close to where the tape was. If there is just use some rubbing compound to buff out the overspray. Just don't get too close to the fresh paint. You need to wait about a month before you can buff and wax the painted area. Avoid pressure washers.

Like I said, this may be a bit of a challenge. Try buffing it out first at least to get the area being worked on smaller. It worked for me and I still have plently of paint left for those occasional touch ups. Those that are dropped on springs know what I'm talking about.

Out here in SoCal, we call things like that "Camry Dents". Almost 50% of camrys out here have bumper dents because drivers just don't know how to back up. I've fixed a few in my lifetime. Pretty simple, which someone already mention. You may have to remove the bumper to get in those tough hard to reach spots. Basically you use a hair dryer, not one of those tiny little ones, warm it up really good for about 5 mins and use the butt of a screwdriver and push that dent back out. Now getting it back to perfect is really up to your capabilities. You may have to repeat with the warming up portion several times. After use some nail polish remover, Acetone, and give it a good wipe. Don't rub it back and forth really hard because you'll strip the paint right off. Since we have black cars, it's easy to get touchup paint or even a permanent marker. Once you're down, apply wax for added protection. Good luck!

I went to a body shop they quoted 300 to fix it. It'll look like new. They will need the car for 2-3 days

skater...dude, it's just a car. relax. you're not gonna die because there's a minor dent on your car. if it's that important, take it to a bodyshop and have it repaired professionally and have your insurance pay for it. that's why we have car insurance to provide the peace of mind.
