@#$% I scratched and hit my bumper!!! Plz Help!!! *PIX*

Well I was backing up an extremely narrow driveway, one I shouldnt have gotten in in the first place. Backwheels came out good but once the front wheels were coming out of the driveway BAM!!! My front wheels rolled off the edge of the driveway. It wasnt even high at all but enough to scratch and dent the bottom right corner of my bumper (passenger side).

Im so pissed right now I dont know what to do. Would it be expensive to fix it even though its minor?

I was thinking of removing that one screw holding that spot of the bumper in place so I can push that dent from the inside of the bumper, maybe itll work.

Also, would touch up paint help? The scratches are like any other scratch that would happen againt concrete.

Just to sum it up heres the problem:

Dents and scratches underneath the bottom right bumper, but its still visible to someone thats walking by. Damage only in that specific area. It didnt affect any other area. The only area affected is the area where the scratches and dent are obvious

plz help!!!

Thanks man,

It really sucks. Im really pissed. I dont know what to do about it.

To be honest with you, it isnt a huge issue. But this is a brand new 06 coupe 6mt.

Hopefully I can get this fixed myself with some touch up paint and hopefully I can reverse that dent from the inside.

Ill see what happens, for now im just speculating.

It won't be that bad to fix.....

I recently made the same mistake with my S2000, and after doing so, I feared the worst...a complete bumper repaint. I went and got an estimate to do so, but was instead pointed in the direction of a local "Bumper Magic" shop, which truly amazed me. I was quite skeptical bringing my car to a place like this, as i'm extremely **** about the products used on, services performed on, and individuals which work on my car.

To my plesant surprise, the car came out absolutely beautiful. The paint match was absolutely flawless. The tech matched the metallic Sebring Silver Metallic of my S to the T. After all was said and done, the fix was around $325, with completley warranted work.

Best of luck with the fix, don't worry about it though, it can be fixed and before long, you'll have forgotten all about it.

Would it be stupid if I tried to fix it myself?

Im planning on trying to fix it by simply trying push to dent back in its place by going in the bumper and pressuring outward. Then, with some touch-up paint, maybe it wont be that noticeable. I know touch up paint would be pretty bad in this situation but as long as its not noticeable I wont care.

Bad idea?

eek...
if you dont wanna mess it up and end up paying more than the bumper price, i'd just take it to good body shop for options (even thought they will most likely tell you that you need to get a new bumper, etc)
touch up paint...i personally think that it's the best way to "kill" your look of the car but since it's from the bottom side of bumper...you can try...;
good luck and hope everything goes fine.

First of all.. it's okay man, just breathe and realize that it could be worse.

Let me try to ease you first, because before you do anything irrational (like work on it yourself lol) listen to this:
About a week after I got my sideskirts painted and installed, there was a little curb that i didn't see in the gas station that I didn't happen to see because it was seperate from the OTHER curb(it was like a little curb ISLAND MAN!). To my surprise, the light that I was trying to beat before I got stuck was turning yellow.. I tried to angle out and drive off as fast as possible, and heard one of the most horrendous noise that fiberglass could make haha. It was even bad enough where I was trying to look to see if my sideskirt actually came off. I parked, looked at my newly installed sideskirt, and realized, "WHOA! Thank God my wheels didn't get messed up.".

Truth be told Skater.. it really could have been worse. Just try to get some quotes.. it looks like it might be buffable. Take it somewhere to see if someone has an opinion on being able to buff it out. If the all say that it's not buffable, then you already considered the worst, so you shouldn't be too upset.

After all is said and done, wait, and make a joke out of it.. it's easier on your heart, and your head. Do what I did and put a couple of band-aids on it and get on with what's more important in your life .

Try these to get the scratches out.

Use either a hair dryer, on hottest setting, or a heat gun to soften the rubber and push it out. Can't hurt.

Don't remove the bumper, just loosen that lower panel and heat it up a bit and push it out from the inside. If it doesn't work all you are out is some time.

rlwjr1,

Ill make sure to try that early in the morning.

Hopefully it works out fine.

From there, if it works, ill try some touch up paint. I know that isnt the smartest Idea but if you notice most of the damage is low, so I doubt youll be able to see the touch up down there. (well not unless you purposely try)

Just remember, a car is a car... we all like our cars but what happens happens.. its just a car and is repairable.. cars really mean nothing in life... they are a fun toy but thats it. Its fixable...

Chris

By the way... Good luck fixing it.. but really.. its just a car man...

you know what i think you can do a lil diy touch up with a pc 7424 and some tools. Look at http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ under detailing how tos and there should be one on repairing scratches. Yours is on a large scale but i think its doable.good luck let us know how it turns out!
