I just purchased an 06 G35 in automatic about 10 days ago. Granted you dont have a clutch so its not entirely the same but you can still shift it if you choose, its a nice little toy to play with. I learned how to drive a stick in my dads 350Z and this is just my personal preference but i just dont wanna have to deal with the whole shifting process when 95% of the time im doing stop and go driving in the city. So yea you dont have complete control over your car but if you do choose an auto G35 you still do have the option to shift.

I think people get G35 auto b/c there's no better car for the price offered. Think about it.
Imagine you wanted a automatic car and had about 35k to spend. Your choices would be:
maybe a used mercedes c320
or
a used bmw 330 zhp
or
?
But the styling of the g35 coupe is so nice, and stylish. It's also much funner to drive, and it would be brand new. It turns a lot more heads, and the features are also good enough.
For sedan owners they have somewhat of a dillema b/c of the TL and the new IS350.
I don't think you should bash on automatic owners so much, b/c what automatic, new car would you have bought instead for the price?
Now if you wanted a stick car then you'd have more of a choice b/c there's the:
350z, the s2k, the sti, the evo, the rx8, etc. I probably still would have chosen the g35 but for guys that wanted automatic cars, there's NO other choice. Definately hands down it's the g35 coupe.

Thats the main reason I purchased mine 5AT.
1) I live in NYC so stick wouldn't have been as enjoyable.
2) Name me another coupe that comes with an automatic with comparable performance and features.
The choice becomes pretty easy after you think about it like that.

Hi,
I'm new here, so please forgive me if I upset any of you
I just bought an 06 G35 AT over both the 6MT and the IS350.
My reasoning for G35 over IS350.
Firstly, the IS350 is only marginally faster. I think it's debatable.
Yes it has 306hp versus 280, but it's the power to weight ratio that matters, not the horsepower.
The IS350 debelops 277ft/LBs of torque @ 4800 rpm.
The G35 Coupe 270/LBs of torque @ 4800 rpm.
The IS350 weighs 22LBs more than the G35 AT.
I think it's closer than most people think....
I also think the IS350 looks like a Volvo with it's nose pushed in. Fugly beast
Now, comparing the 5AT to the 6MT
AT Horsepower 280 hp @ 6,200 rpm vs MT 298 hp @ 6,400 rpm
AT Torque 270 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm vs MT 260 lb-ft @ 4,800 rpm
AT Curb weight 3,505 lb vs MT 3,524 lb
So, power to weight ratio shows the MT has little, if ANY advantage over the AT.
The MT is heavier, develops its peak power at higher rpm and has less torque?
OK, you have more control, well maybe, who cares, I haven't driven stick in 10 years and don't really care too. The real benefits of the 6MT are the limited slip diff and the Brembo brakes.
and finally, the 350Z / G35 cars have LOTS of power modifications available to make surpassing the power of an IS350 or the new BMW 335I Coupe an affordable reality.
Anyway, this is the reason I bought the AT, that and I live in San Francisco

I dont know man. I live in Manhatty and have a 6MT. It was and still is a hands down decision for me. Its the most responsive and driver oriented of all your mentioned choices.

Well to be fair I am in Tokyo right now (IE CITY) and when I had my Skyline (a REAL skyline) 5 speed and I never really minded the fact that I had a stick. It is just a different way to drive. I can say traffic is the same to me when I am in traffic. When it takes you 3 hours to drive 50 kilometers (30 miles about) then you know what traffic is LoL.
