Sirius Radio Question

I have an 06 Coupe. It came with Sirius but I never got it hooked up. I have a very short commute and don't really need it (plus I have XM in my other car).

Anyway, I was messing with the radio this weekend and all of a sudden, I am getting Sirius.(?) But, as near as I can tell I am not getting all of the channels. I have no idea how to work this thing so I guess I will have to look at the manual to figure it out.

Do any of you guys know about Infiniti buyers getting a certain number of months free from Sirius? The thing is, I swear it was not doing this when I first got the car.

Thanks.

I think you get access to a main channel or something. I'm using an aftermarket unit on my '05, but I remember getting one channel before activating.

IMO, Sirius really is better than XM, in terms of channels, etc. But, I have found XM listeners who are loyal mainly because of a specific talk/news show. Likewise, there are many Sirius owners who wouldn't ever consider XM soley because Stern is on Sirius. I fit into that group, but I also found better programming/choices on Sirius.

Short trips or not, you should activate it.

I fall into the XM fan that would not consider Sirius. I strongly dislike Stern and don't see that the content on other channels is any better than XM with the exception of NFL games. I do wish that XM could get those.

In any event, I am not about to give up Opie and Anthony.

You get 3 months of preview channels. Those include basically 1 channel from every category including Howard Stern 101.

I just got an '06. It came with Sirius and supposedly a 3 mo 'free" trial membership. When I called to activate it, I was told I had to purchase at least 6 mos service to receive the "free" 3 mos. I told my dealer about this, and they are picking up the tab for 9 months, so I'm getting a free year out of the deal.

I have XM in my TSX, and the 3 month trial was automatically activated when I purchased the car. Much easier.

That's weird! I had no problems. At the end of 3 months (a couple of weeks ago) I called up Sirius and started a month-to-month service with the first 3 months free :-)

Yeh, if you were a fan on regular radio, then you really are missing out on the evolution of the show on satelite. Get subscribed and join the party. They're gearing up to start playing a lot of the old, uncensored, best-of bits (listener-voted) for the 3-day Labor Day Weekend. Billy West... ...Jackie Puppet... ...etc. The new shows have been pretty funny and wild as well. I have to be a little more carefull listening at work, but I'm certainly not missing much of the show.

Not to hijack my own thread but Howie is nowhere near as good as he used to be. 10 plus years ago he was funny and cutting edge. Now, he is a caricature. Once he was in a movie about himself, the end came quickly.

Plus, Robin has got to be one of the biggest wastes of space on radio. She adds nothing to the program.

Don't get used to listening to him. He will be "retired" permanently (as opposed to taking a couple of months off during the year) in the not too distant future. Think about it, would you work for very long after you snagged a payday like that?

Ikazuchi - You are a typical Stern fan. You call me names (which you can't spell) because I don't like Howard Stern??? Are you related to this guy? Does he give you a cut of his paycheck? How sad.

You better get out of the basement now. I think your momma is calling you for dinner.

Two tips for you Mr. "I am hyper-aggressive over the Internet":

1. Learn to spell
2. Learn to use proper punctuation

Master these skills and someday they will move you off of Fries.

i agree, stern has been the best he's been in years. lots of new bits and the crew is hilarious these days. i've been listening for about 12 years now. i was without a sirius for 2 weeks and i almost went nuts. forget about stern, the amount of commercials on regular radio are enough to drive you mad.

anyway, i believe you get 2 channels free regardless, if you have the sirius receiver in your car. i think its channel 184 or something like that. it gives you news, weather, and maybe traffic.
