diff/6mt fluid, quarts? weight?

So for the differential, Its 3 1/8th qts as I was reading On a thread but, it seems like it'd only be 2qts no?

6mt - I read a thread that said to use 2 qts, mt-90, 2 qts, mtl. so 4 qts?

can anyone confirm the exact volume?

Get 2 qts. for the diff., 4 for the 6MT. Not sure on the exact volume, but you'll need this many quarts to get it done and it will be enough to do the job.

There are few options that people have seemed to have success with. Get the proper weights (in manual) or equivalent. GL-4 rating for the 6MT, GL5 for the rear diff. No friction modifier called for, by Nissan, for either.

Yep, weights I got no problem with. Just wondering Qts. I knew the diff was only 2.

I've changed both my G's rear diff and my M's and they're both just shy of 2 qts.
I use Lucas 75W90 Synthetic and love it.

You better add a hand-pump to your toolbox. Even the dealership uses one. I think the 6MT fill hole is on top (or am I thinking of the diff?), which doesn't make filling it otherwise very easy.

I use RedLine in my tranny and diff, took a hair over 3 qts for the tranny and 2 qts for the diff, and yes, you'll need a hand pump

To properly refill differentials and transmissions, the vehicle should be level and you should fill the fluids in until they start dripping out of the fill hole. The correct inspection proceedure to check fluid level is to open the fill plug and see if either fluid escapes or the level is flush with the fill hole. If it is lower, you need to add fluid until it drips out.

The rear diff is easy provided you have the right equipment:

Jackstands/ramps
10mm long handle hex wrench
small auxhillary pump (the refill hole is up high and not very accessible)
2 qts. gear oil.

See thumbnail for pump and hex wrench.

I expect the 6M/T tranny has a drain (down low) and a refill (up high) similar to the recessed hex bolts on the diff.
