Anybody else get the $0 deduct. insurance on these tires and rims? Seemed like a good idea since I have a $1000 deduct. on my auto insurance and I am not sure if they would cover tires anyway.

I think the whole package cost me a little over $400.

That definately can NOT be plugged. It is too close to the sidewall to be safe. Sorry

Plugging/patching is only safe when it is in the middle section of the tire, not when it's out towards the sides.

Everyone look again, the nail is IN the sidewall!! Looks like a framing nail. Definitely not repairable.

Why don't you just put up an actual picture then?

as everyone writes, you will need a new tire. apparently if the damage is on the sidewall or even near it, it can't be fixed. something to do with the flex and curvature on the inside of the tire near the sidewall prevents the patch from sticking well. eventually the patch will fall off or the plug will come out and you will be running on a tire with a hole in it.

Patches for punctures are usually inserted through the hole. No way it would come off - it is melted into the existing rubber. If it is exactly where the dot is on his picture, the hole is right on the borderline for where a patch would be allowable. Tough call, the tire people would have to make it.
