Anyone with tint...

I'm looking to get my tint done and I was wondering how others have had their back windshield done? I'm assuming you remove the back brake light and tint the whole window, then put the brake light back on right?

nope. apparently some tint places have a tool that allows them to squeeze into that small space. not sure what it was called but i had the same question when i had my tint done. it was done very cleanly.

That's lame. It is sooo easy to remove. Just push a little to the back of the glass and lift up. I do this all the time when I clean the window. For some cars, the light is part of the shelf and would require the tool, but for our G's, nope.

Think I should remove it myself before I go in? (I hate people touching my cars and I just got the G last week after 4 years of drooling over them. I'd tint it myself if I could. lol)

One more question...I'm sure they see it all the time but how do they do the doors with that little auto up and down feature they have?

No need to remove it yourself, just make sure they do before they tint. Try it yourself and then you can show them how easy it is. For the doors, a trick they do is to remove the screw for the door switch. By doing that, the switch is no longer grounded, making to door act like it's closed, therefore window goes up. It's the same as if you were to hold the switch in with your fingers. They have it made since the windows are also frameless, it makes tinting that much easier.

A professional tint place will know how to deal with the auto up/down feature on the front windows. The shop that we took my wife's G too just taped down the little **** so the window stays up.

As for the third brake light, it's easy to remove and reinstall. Again, the tint shop will know. Some shops are lame and cut out a rectangle for the light to shine through, but that's completely unecessary and looks lame. Just remind them to tint the whole area.

Don't let them cut out a space for the third brake light. It looks bad. Even w/ my 20% on the rear window, you can still see the third brake light illuminate.
