A few questions.. please read.

Hey guys, just came from the dealership today b/c i had a service engine soon light and needed an oil change. The part I need is in back order, and is covered by warranty. Some kind of throttle oxygen sensor.

Question 1:

While I was there, they said I need:

power steering flush ($130)
brake flush ($135)
transmission service ($199) but I think the transmission service is covered. not sure..

Are those things important? Can I just do them myself? Is it worth the prices?

Question 2:

I also have like 29, something miles so I need the 30k service. They said the 30k service is a lil over 500. Is it worth it (I just recently got the air filter and in-cabin filter changed)? What else is important in the 30k check up?

30K I'd focus more on the Oil Change, Transmission Oil Change and Fuel Injection Flush Cleaning which impacts the 1st service life of the performance on your vehichle.

Oil changes are done. I guess I need to do the other two things.

You could do them yourself. I would be inclined to use an independent shop for the brake fluid and P/S flush, at likely lower cost. (and I don't mean Jiffy Lube!)
Not convinced you need those done this soon. I would say 3/36K. Tranny drain/fill sounds very high also.
What you NEED and what they say you NEED can be two different things.
One will make them richer.

Do you rely on an Infiniti dealer for everything? Routine services are generally cheaper at Nissan. You should only HAVE TO go to Infiniti for a problem under warranty.

Yea exactly. That's why I'm so hesitant. Thanks for the info. I'll see what I can do.

brake flush only, should be done every 2 yrs,24000 miles.brake fluid atracts moisture which in turn does damage internally to the brake system.our tranny fluid is synthetic fluid, wait to about 50,000 miles.p/s flush is a sales gimmick.

Do you know for a fact our ATF is fully synthetic? I've always thought the ATF drain interval most manufacturers recommend for cars is way too long. 50,000 is certainly the longest I've heard.

I would agree on the brake fluid. But PS fluid is also hygroscopic and moisture can corrode internal components just as easy as brake components. But I would agree on longer intervals.

Yes, our OEM tranny fluid is synth (and reportedly a very good one too) ....and changing it out at 40k-50k should be good. It's wise to keep an eye on colour tho, since burnt oil should be changed out quickly and the cause corrected.
