Unhappy Need a new clutch!!!!!!

04 Gcoupe(used) purchased last Dec 05.Last week as i was driving to the dealer to get my rear axle fixed because it was making that annoying clicking noise.........my clutch went out, so i got towed like two mins away from the dealer. Needless to say its not covered under the extended warranty so estimated cost is $2100 plus tax. So my question is, what websites can i purchase a new clutch..or any info that would be helpful??? Thanks

www.i-m-racing.com, they have all kinds of clutches. The favorite is the JWT setup. Do you beat on your car ? How does your clutch go out so soon?

If you read above, his clutch wasn't under warranty, so this wouldn't make a difference under the warranty, unless they can claim it cause something else to break down.

You can burn out your clutch in a couple hundred miles of abusive shifting. Of course if the clutch fails because of a manufacturing defect, it's covered. I know one guy who had to have the clutch on his S4 replaced after 5K miles. He loved to pop the clutch at 4K RPM to get quick starts. On AWD cars you aren't apt to get the wheels to spin if the tires are in good condition, so what is the weakest link in the chain. It's the clutch.

The problem with a used car is that you have no idea how it was driven before. 47K miles is not bad for a clutch on a car driven hard. More than likely most of the clutch wear was done by the first owner.

So would it be easier to get the clutch changed by the dealer or yourself? I would assume that it was be a major pain in the @$$ to change it yourself right?

Dealership quoted you $660? That's crazy cheap compared to the quote of $2100 in the first post. I just got a quote my one of my dealers and they quoted me $2280!!!

i can't see anyone charging 300$ to change the clutch. there's a lot of labor involved to drop and open it up. that's what kills you. unless they're fvcking u on the cost of the parts. the average life of a clutch should be around 90,000 miles. i have a friend that owns a toyota celica and she's got just over 140,000 km's on it... 1st clutch no slipping at all.

My clutch is grabbing really high, is anyone else's? It's grabbing to where the clutch is almost fully disengaged. But for that much money, I'm going to wait until it starts to slip.

And I agree, $300 is way too cheap. Considering you'll have to unbolt all of the bolts to drop the tranny.
