Breaking in the engine?

Well, I did a search and saw there are mixed opinions about "breaking" in the engine. My dealer said there was no break-in period and didn't mention changing the oil after 500 miles either, however I saw a post about people doing so.

My car has now about 700 miles, so I am curious as to if I should get the oil changed or not and I have pushed it a "few" times... seeing how its a Sports car and not grandma's sedan...

Just curious, Thanks!

Just drive the car and forget about breaking it in. The only thing that I never do with a new car is bring it to redline during the first 1000 miles. As for the first oil change, I waited until 1,500 miles, and from there I stick to the recommended intervals.

Would you rather be Safe or Sorry?

Not saying anything bad is going to happen but for ME the peice of mind that comes with changing the oil for the low price of ( what 50 bucks at the most) would make me feel a lot better. New motors are not 100% from the get go, they need time to settle and in that time there are most likely going to be a few metal shavings and debris floating around. I am to lazy to look for the thread but there are a few people that changed their Diff's around an abnormaly low number of miles and they found metal shavings out the WAZOO.

In another month when I buy mine you better believe that I will be doing it around 800 and then 2000 and 2500 after that

Today, I called Infiniti "No every 3500 miles will be fine".

I drove to the Nissan dealership (closer than the infiniti) and talked to their tech. "No, The 350z and g35 we recommend every 3500".

So... why would they sell a car (designed for a wealthy person who is going to care less about oil changes) that will need its oil changed at 500 etc...

Dunno, sounds kinda excessive, but hear this, I am going to go get it changed at 1k miles.
