So I just asked my dealer how much the Sirius or XM radio would cost to have done to my car. So he told me something crazy like $530! Is this normal? I can go buy an XM reciever now for $75 bucks and pay $10 a month subscription. The only benefit of having it done thru the factory is that it is seamlessly integrated into the factory radio unit.

Has anyone had this done through their dealer for cheap? I would much rather have my car wired and the satellite integrated than installing a clumsy reciever but it would save me hundreds of dollars...

I am in the NYC area - does anyone know of any places that can do the factory job besides the dealership??

 

My satellite radio came with my car when i got it. It was not an option i wanted but it had the rest of the stuff so they through it in for free. I have an 04 and bought it in Nov03. At the time it was about a 400 option.

I have Sirius factory installed on the G, i have sirius in my other 2 vehicles also. I love it, listen to anything u want, no BS, no commercials, etc. Howard stern too is great.

I bought the after market units for under 100 each and they are 50 times better than the factory one. Its great that its integrated but the interface sucks! On my aftermarket it continously revords about 43 mins of music, so you can bounce around, listen to a song again, etc. It also can save my fav artists and songs and alert me when they are playing on any station. The factory installed sirius absolutely sucks compared to the aftermarket one.

Trust me, dont get it and get Sirius aftermarket.
