Ok, WTF Happened?
Today as I was coming back from lunch my passenger wanted me to gun it from the light, so I did. Stomped on the brake for like .25 seconds then floored it, lost a bit of traction, then shifted to 2nd and put it back into D after.
I noticed then in about 3 seconds the car was stuck at like 4k RPM and it didn't shift so I was like wtf? I pressed the gas and it totally felt like the car was in N, the RPM's went up but the car didn't accelerate. So I put it back into 1st and the car lunged like it just down shifted and I pressed the gas and it acclerated but it wouldn't let me shift up and I had it up at like 6k RPM for a good 10 seconds because I was in a 45 stuck doing 35 and there was a truck behind me.
I pulled over as soon as I could and then turned the car off and back on and everything was fixed. Has anyone ever experienced something like this? It scared the crap out of me and I don't want it to happen again. It seems like something in one of the computer components or whatever just decided to stop working but it got reset when the car got turned on and off. Should I take it to a dealer?

This has happened to me a couple of times when it's cold out and the engine is still revving high after startup. I shift into D, the car lurges and stops. When I gas it, the revs go up but the car barely moves. I shut it down and after restart, it's fine. I haven't bothered to bring it in since it's hard to reproduce and don't want to waste my life at the dealership... if it starts to happen more often, I will bring it in.
