So i read...4qrts conv. & 1qt. synthetic

Long story short, i read a huge article on oil testing on 10 dif. taxi cabs in NYC. Basically they said using 1qt of synthetic oil mixed in with conventional oil will provide the same protection as all quarts being fully synthetic. They said, 1 qt synthetic will do the work mixed in with conventional oil. What do you think ?

Without reading the article who would have any idea what they mean?
On the surface sounds like bullcrap,. It probaby would not hurt and might help a little.
But how is one quart of synthetic going to make conventional oil flow better under extreme cold, or hold up better under extreme heat?
Besides, regular oil has more byproducts like ash, how is the 1qt of syn going to eliminate that? Sounds like someone woke up some morning with their thumb up their tailpipe and thought they would do an experiment.

I dont know, i'll try to post the article. They said 1qt synthetic was enough protection. 1qt was enough to add that extra lub in the internals...i dont know. I like Mobil1, but in some threads here i read that Mobil1 wasnt good for the G engine. I dont know which way to go.

you never mix synthetic with convensional its just something u dont do... also IF it were possible it might provide decent protection but your oil will still break down after 3k miles... i already have 3k miles on my oil change and the car still feels like the first day i got my oil change, synthetic doesnt break down that quick

I read of one person's oil analysis saying when he used M1 there was more lead in the results. (lead off of crank bearings implied).
I think that might the only negative I have ever read of Mobil 1 in some 15+ years it's been out?
Sure, they might be a better syn out there, you pay more. But any full synthetic is a wide margin over conventional oils, so we are really splitting hairs with little to no conclusive proof of anything significant.
Considering folks used to change oil every 3K and used oils vastly inferior to what is available today, and still got long life out of their engines. I don't think we have much to worry about. Regular maintenance is the key everytime.

That goes against what I've read about mixing dino and synth......
I wouldn't do it.
