Why does my gas mileage SUCK?
Check it out dude, I live in Burbank and i do 50/50 of my driving in Traffic City/ Traffic Highway driving, and i get like 260 to the tank, if i do all city driving i get like 13-14 mpg. It's BS yes but anyone who says they get 18 in the city is most likely driving in a city yes, but with moving traffic, not as much stop and go i'm sure. I got from Burbank - Berkeley on a tank.. so i can't say it's my car.
then maybe i do have a problem, although i cant do anything.. especially since when i went to the dealership the rep tells me anything over 12mpg is normal.. then why did i buy an 18 mpg car only to be getting 6 mpg less.... =(
Dude, I thought I got crappy mileage. I average about 18-19 overall, but I also drive like the perverbial bat. When I drove to vegas, I set the cruise at 75 and averaged 28 mpg until I hit the mountains. I couldn't believe it. If you're really having that much trouble, don't take any poop from the dealer. Get a real explanation or get it fixed. The dealerships in Wa are B.S. Everytime I bring it in for some sort of warranty work, it's a problem. When it's not warranty work, the techs seem to know less about my car and more about gouging. I've never yet been impressed by anyone working there. If none of the advice above works, at least get a real answer from the dealer. a $40k car should not **** you off.
again 10-13mpg is waaayy too low. I'll try to floor my car everytime I accelerate in the city driving and I'll check how low can I go....
I'll still try to keep it under the speed limit though
don't want to get busted

I've found the Nav fuel economy feature in my Coupe to be consistently within .3 MPG of what I get by dividing my actual gallons of fuel used by the miles traveled per tank.
As mentioned above by someone, the Nav is a great way to learn the best way to drive your car in terms of fuel economy if that's what you want to get out of your car.

There was an excellent article in C&D a couple months ago that further addresses maximizing your fuel mileage. Check it out. I'll see if I can dig it up and I'll post it.
Z-tube + K&N made an astronomic difference in my fuel efficiency. I can easily eclipse 400 miles per tank now once the engine had adjusted to the new air/fuel mix. Lowest I'd gotten when my car was new was 12mpg in-town. Now I can squeeze closer to 18-20 mpg in-town.

In regards to the original post, my brother and I also get the same MPG (10-13) on our Gs with in town only driving the way you described.
I get 16-17 on regular basis due to 70% moving freeway driving.
But just 12mpg w/o freeway driving.
