Re: NAV function except GPS mapping

For me it's a very comprehensive system: Besides mapping, guiding, and 'talking' nicely, It will show (and beep) that you have a door, or trunk open. It will tell you when to change your oil & filter, and rotate the tires, displays trip time, ground speed, instant gas consumption, average gas cons., logs for same. You can find out your geographic location (longitude, latitude), even altitide. You can choose between U.S. or Metric measurements and a whole lot more! Oh yeh, it has a digital clock. ,,,,Yes I love it. One of the best toys I've owned.

Himura 816, There's lots of ppl that don't want it , don't like it, don't understand it, don't need it, or even can't afford it. There may be other Navi's on the market that are better even aftermarket, but this is my first Navi, is factory, can be hidden away, and suits my needs............Enjoy..

I don't think n88 owns one. It does not show about traffic. I don't think there is any that does anyway.

Re: NAV function except GPS mapping

actually there are some that do tell you about traffic and will reroute you. i'm not sure if that is true about the G's nav. if so it would be nice.

Re: NAV function except GPS mapping

There's nothing in the manual that indicates the Nav system knows about existing traffic conditions. It does have a feature where you can tell it to avoid the road you're currently on for X miles, and it'll reroute. So you have to hear about the traffic on the radio or see it yourself, and tell the Nav system it's there.

Re: NAV function except GPS mapping

ryoken is correct. if you know traffic conditions you can tell it to re-route!

Re: NAV function except GPS mapping

The circled numbers are Township roads, and other highways.
Compass in the upper left, next to the satellite symbol.> Big letters show townships surrounding our city.> 500m in bottom
left shows 'birdview' from 500 meters elevation- (1550Ft.)>
Little circles going up past my street and down 75 is optional tracking> The house near the bottom, middle, is mine--notice the red arrow with donotes my position (car) which is parked nose first into the garage!
There's a ton of features on the navi. Too many to list. The main criticism is that once you're underway, some of the functions are disabled . Some! The main ones are still functional and if others need to be accessed then you just pull over and park. I like it a lot. Need any more info , let me know, I'll be glad to help.

Re: NAV function except GPS mapping

dont worry about it Himura, GSedanman is from Canadia, thats why they have odd circles on their roads hahahaa

infiniti/nissan has the best navigation system on the retail-dealer installed market right now...its better than Lexus, but next year Mercedes is coming out with a new nav system, so who knows!
and my advice is: get nav if you are the type that can afford it and loves to impress friends/family...its a neat toy to have, very usefull if you live in a densely populated area with lots and lots of roads and highways

Re: NAV function except GPS mapping

Thanks for all the job, GSedanMan! Now that i have a clearer idea of the NAV system, i'm like 99% sure i'll get it when i order my G35c... thank you very much

RamboRami: I too am living in Canada, so it seems that i need to get used to those "odd circles" too ^_^
