Yeah, I had that too, as well as several other forum members (read as... quite a few).

Except for me, the roaring started at 6k miles, and I tried to get them to at least do an alignment after they said, "the car needs new front tires and an alignment". It's a bunch of crap, but what can you do. Some guy was pretty determined to get a class action suit going cause the thread got to be a good size, but I wonder whatever happened to that.

Anyways, looks like they're going to take care of the big problem for you. I would, however, insist to the corporate customer service guy that the miles that the tech will be driving should NOT count against your lease.

If you get them to do an engine replacement, go for the VQ35HR or whatever it's called (the one that will be in the 07 sedan and 08 coupe). It's supposed to be on a different level from the current coupe engine.

I've heard that as well.

As I said though... I'd rather just get out of the car and into something that does well in the winter (like i was told my G would do. LOL) and I’m able to buy real all seasons/snow tires for (again as i was told...) Stupid 19" rims and giant *** calipers and brakes.

You think the block is causing the oil burning? I'd be more willing to guess it's the piston rings.

HeadOrange - Did you break-in the car nice and easy?

I know but in the long run its cheaper for the factory to just send a shor block. Because it is assembled at the factory where the tech there have more experience in assembling it then some techincian outside...I remember this one guy that did rings on a car and it ended up buring more oil so they decided to get a short block instead of having the tech do it...Not that many dealership techician really does a lot of engine rebuilt...

Ohh I though you meant, ditch the block keep the internals. I was really scratching my head on that one haha. Then again I have read some outrageous sugestions on this forum. So true though I wouldn't feel comfortable with a bottomend rebuild from a dealer monkey.

Everyones got a G!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Prob...A short block (block come fully assembled from factory. Pistons etc..) is the engine without the heads. A long block is the complete engine...EI...The block and the heads. When you order a long block its pretty much an engine swap. If you get a short block you will need to reuse the heads but that shouldn't be a problem. Mechanic at dealers are good at removing heads because they deal with a lot of overheated engines some times when the radiator is bad...

Where I get my oil changed, there is a letter posted for Altima owners. Nissan had posted a recall for a number of Altima's, I believe 2005's, for a problem with consuming to much oil. I wonder if this is the same problem?
