Thanks to all who took the time to reply. It's reassuring that most of your cars are holding up so well. As far as the German cars costing more, they obviously do but it's because of the performance aspects of those cars. The Porsche 993 and BMW M3 have outstanding performance in the twisties and great straight line acceleration.

There's really no excuse for cars in the mid price range to have lots of rattles. One of my German cars was an Audi TT roadster and it was priced just a few thousand more than a loaded G35. I kept that car for four years as my regular commuter and it didn't have a single rattle or squeak, which is kind of amazing for a roadster.

Joe - Thanks for the kind offer. My present rattles are in two areas. One is from the sun roof when it's open. I believe the shade panel vibrates in the fully open position. The other is coming somewhere from the back of the car. Until I get someone to ride in the back seat, I won't be able to tell if it's coming from the rear speaker or somewhere in the trunk of the car. When I drive over train tracks, I usually get this clunking noise. I initially thought that either the spare tire or some of the tools in the trunk weren't secured, but everything appears to be secured tightly in place.

I have 53k on my 03 6mt coupe. I do not have a lot of rattles. But it squeaks pretty bad. Could be because I'm lowered.

I have this annoying damn wind whistle from my driver's side window....anyone else experience this? If so, how did you fix it? It only happens when I go about 50 to 70mph. I figured it out by pressing my elbow on the window (pretty hard actually, not too smart) but the noise went away....I really am at a loss on how to fix this. I really don't want to bring this to the dealer because I KNOW they will say that they can't replicate this issue and tell me to live with it....

I get this sound only when the temperature dips below 40 degrees. It lasts for about 5 minutes and then goes away. One of the G's mysteries.

05 with 19K. No rattles... but i do have more of a creek coming from the driver side back window. It goes away if you fidget with opening and closing it a few times. I believe its a function of the rubber gasket that the window fits snug into when its up. Nothing that turning up the radio can't handle.

'04 with 33.5K miles, and I have the buzzing rearview mirror and creaking sunroof when the frame twists. The sunroof has been lubed up few times by the dealer and it's due again, and the rearview mirror was quiet thruout the summer, and now I start hearing it again. The good things about the car by far outnumber the bad things, so I don't let it bother me. Enjoy.

2006 coupe 5k, I already have rattles

a friend of mine just bought one 2 weeks ago, he got 500 miles on it and he already got a rattle on the passenger door.

The G was well designed but not well constructed.

Something worthy of note here is that the new G is supposed to have some ridiculously larger number of welds so that the chassis rigidity is up something like 40%. Sounds like Infiniti may have tried to resolve this problem in the upcoming release.

So don't let problems with the current version turn you off for the next. I think as 1st gen G owners we have to come to grips with the fact that the G was used to generate revenue for the rest of the redesigns (M, FX), so naturally they couldn't put the kind of money into it that they did the other vehicles. I think you'll see that with the M doing really well this next version of the G will be much improved.

My $.02
