How do 06 sport package tires measure up?

Just out of curiosity, how are the bridgestone potenzas that we get when we take the sport package. How do they measure up against aftermarket tires in terms of grip, performance etc? From what I understand there actually a really sick tire but I dont know to much on tires so thats why im asking.

Dry grip is pretty decent, and I haven't had any trouble in the rain, but treadwear is a little on the low side and noise is not too great. Basically, there are better tires for the money out there

I'm really liking my Yokohama Advan Sports. They're sticky and quiet.

I drove my friend's 05 coupe with Potenzas and they did not stick anywhere near as well as my 04 Pilots. I was very surprised at how live the back end of his car was even though his is an auto and mine is a well modified 6 speed.
I would not have had the same confidence in spirited driving with the Potenzas as with the Pilots at all. And, man those Potenzas were LOUD!

This makes my decision in spring to pick up a set of OEM 19s with tires more difficult--I feel as though I would have to re-shoe them if I got them to have the performance of my 18s.

I never liked the Bridgestone RE050As that came on my 05 6MT. Their dry grip was good but their wet grip was mediocre at best, they rode very harshly, they were noisy from day one, and when they reached their traction limit it was like somebody threw a switch. They went from max grip to no grip in the blink of an eye. Oversteer, whether induced by trailing throttle or the application of power, was very difficult to control, and made the G much less fun to drive near or at the limit than it should have been. I replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s that I've been driving on for about 4000 miles now. They are so much better than the Bridgestones in every way -- I highly recommend them!

How quiet are these Pilot PS2s? I heard its over quiet during their first half lifespan and during the second half, they get loud like those stock tires.

That's true of virtually all high-performance "summer" tires. However, the PS2s are MUCH quieter than the Bridgestones were even when brand new.

Yeah I am just waiting for a few more months to run out my potenzas and then its PS2 for me. The potenzas have some crappy treadwear, even for summer tires, and the noise is god awful!
