pig pig pig---chp

i was just driving on the 5 north...doing my thing. on the very right side of the road behind an 18 wheeler doing about 65. next thing i look in my rearview and a chp cruiser pulls me over. he tells me to go all the way to the right side of the freeway outside of the lanes. i roll down my windows and he starts "oh you can't see the lanes because your windows are too dark, license and registration blah blah"

long story short:

he gives me a ticket for tint (front windows) and then he goes im going to give you a second ticket for no plates. ( i still have my dealer plates)

he told me that the dmv sent my plates in august...and asked why have i not put them on.

so my question to you guys....
ive got a tint and no plate ticket before....but it was by a city cop...i just had to get it signed

i asked him if the tint ticket was a $10 fix it and he said no its alot more.....was he just saying that or are there differetn kinds of tint tickets?

any idea on the plates? are those fix its as well?

any info would help...

did he mark correctible or no? If its not correctable u just have to show the signed ticket to the judge and he will throw it off with $10, if it is correctable then u have to get the ticket signed and show it to the court clerk instead of a judge.

Paper plates and tinted windows

Back when my coupe was new I got a ticket for not having my lic plate--I had the paper plate on the car. I recall the cop a (CHP on surface street) told me the law requires the metal plates 90 days after the car is purchased.

It was just a fix-it ticket...I had the plates at home and I just needed to install them and get the ticket signed by a cop.

It was a BS ticket--the cop pulled me over because he heard someone "honk their horn" at me...middle of rush hour, tons of other cars around me, BS! He was profiling me...asking me if I had anything to drink...I had just left work...told him our office doesn't have a cocktail hour.

Luckily, I had the presence of mind to roll my windows down before he approached the car, otherwise he might have ticketed me for tinted windows too.

I think the biggest cost will be in getting the tint removed and later re-applied. I don't think the ticket will cost much more than some nominal processing fee.

On the ticket it should have a box for correctable or non correctable,
see which one is checked. If it is correctable then you can just get it signed off if not you have to pay the full amount of the fine.

I don't understand. How can they give you a ticket without writing the fine amount on it? In Massachusetts when you get a ticket they write on the ticket $xxx. I got a $250 ticket for doing 45mph through the "Fast Lane" tolls (posted limit 15mph) I knew the amount the second the Trooper gave it to me, because he filled in the "Amount Due" box.
In Cali they give you tickets and make you guess how much it costs? WTF? I don't get it...

for a "fix it" tickets you are suppose to fix the violation by the court date thats written on the ticket. If u don't then u recieve a letter stating that you are in collection agency and they fine the **** out of you.

it used to be that they could not pull you over for tints alone. it had to be a check point for you to get stopped. You had to violate a traffic law to get pulled over and then you would get an additional ticket for tints.

lately my friend has been pulled over a number of times on the local streets, but its the first time i heard of being pulled over on freeway and the reason being tints.

I am convinced that when a city/state needs money they technically can do anything when it comes to writing tickets. And the city purposely makes an effort to confuse drivers by posting various signs one day and taking them down the next.

I got a ticket for a u-turn at a traffic light in the area where you were allowed to do it for years, then they posted no u-turn at certain cross-streets and not others, which would lead you to believe you can make a turn on one block without a sign and not at the ones with the sign. Well according to a cop, its not so. About 6 years ago, i was able to win a similar u-turn ticket in court. Now, after 6 years i get my first ticket for the same violation. I dont even try to argue with a cop anymore, its a waste of time.

Its getting so bad, that a friend of mine got the same ticket on the same street for making a u-turn as mine from 6 years ago, so I gave him my information from court where a judge dismissed it for me. He took it to court and presented it to the judge, who says i dont care what happened then, you are guilty. So much for precedent.
sorry for the long post, its just frustrating.

Wait for about 2-3 wks until you get a letter from the courts. It'll tell you exactly how much you owe.
