For those of us who are not only poor, but mechnically challeged as well... What does a plenum spacer do?

Plenum allows you to get more air into the engine.... you will gain top end HP.

Plenum spacers alleviate an airflow restriction that exists above the first two intake runner inlets. The inside top of the stock plenum is very close to the top of the lower plenum runner inlets. There is only about 1/8" clearance between the first two inlets and the plenum cover. This creates a significant air flow restriction that reduces engine breathing and power output.

You can get a plenum "spacer" to open up this clearance, or get an aftermarket upper plenum like Crawford or APS etc. which are not "slopped" at the front.

Get an intake... wait a month, and get th ARC strut tower bar replica It'll still fit just fine with your 5/16th spacer and your engine cover still on.

I hear ya - just got married (30k) bought 2 houses this year(long story) switched careers and still trying to mod the G.

I've been shopping through the marketplace and getting used mods through my club. Just picked up exhaust, springs, plenum spacer, samco hoses, rims, shift ****, 8000k hids and painted battery covers for about $1400.

"pre-owned" seems to be the way to go for the poor folk.

Pooooo folk.............

I wished you hadn't ordered those Bridgestones!
You'll be lucky to get 10K out of those. If you read
the sidewall it should show tire ratings. B/Stones
have a mileage rating of 140. While drag radials
have a rating of 160. I never got more than 7K out
of soft compound drag tires, and I've gone through
several sets! Try to buy tires that have mileage
ratings of at least 240 and up. That will net you at
least 30K driven sanely.

The 960AS have a rating of 400! That's why I almost bought them myself over the Avons I am having mounted tomorrow. But there has been little experience from previous buyers, and only one road test where the 960s seem to do pretty good.
That's why I pocketed more dough and went for the Avons which have a lot of rave reviews, and several good tests at tirerack. Treadwear rating for those is 360.
More weight though. The downside of the Avons. But once you settle on performance all-weathers, you have to take those kind of trade-offs but save some money. It's all about personal choice.
