Car Mantainence

I just bought a used 04 G and need rear tires. I am looking for long lasting tires. I dont need them for performance, just longevity.

Also, do your gas gauges take a while to get up to the full mark after you fill up? I just filld mine up and its sitting between the 3/4 and full. If this is a problem, do I just call the dealership and make an apointment or do I have to call Infiniti.

One last question, any of you who bought your G used did you call Infiniti and let them know you bought it for recall reasons?

Check out the www.tirerack.com for some good tires. The Avon Tech M550 is very popular for still good performance and great all weather driving, as well as decent wear.
But you should not mix tires if you can avoid it, especially if you have staggered tires (different widths front and back).

I am at the same point. Still have some good life left on the fronts and the wear is still fairly even, but the rears are down to the treadbars.
Have to go with all 4.

You are not clear if your vehicle is still in warranty or not. if it is, you should be able to get the fuel gauge done at an Infiniti dealer, free.
(Not tires of course. That would be a big ripoff at a dealership.)

If the seller gave you the books that came with the car, there should be a mail in form for the warranty change of name, etc. The car is still covered as long as it was properly serviced, and is still under the mileage and time for the warranty requirements.
I changed mine online, with the form, etc. and when I had the front brakes done (under warranty 3 year/36K for 03/04s) they still had the previous owner's name in the computer. The dealer changed it right there and then.

There are no transfer fees, etc for the original warranty when it passes to a buyer.

Where are you located?

Falken FK-451 are good long lasting street tires. The newer version FK-452 just came out and have an even higher treadwear rating.

I live in South Dakota. I will have to check on those tires at a tire store so that I can get them mounted and balanced.
Also, if there is no Infiniti dealership near me, I heard I can bring it to a Nissan dealer?

edit: I forgot that it is under factory warranty still

You might call Infiniti and explain your situation. Maybe they will let a Nissan dealer cover you.

I'm in MD and I just put on the Falken FK-452s on the rear stock 19s with the OEM RE050 on the front. After a few hundred miles, everything seems fine and I can only feel a slight lag (.5 second) when I push the car hard at highway speeds. The lag I'm talking about in non-technical terms is: turing the steering wheel at highway speed quickly and then a half second later having the car react and make the lane chage. This wasn't an issue witht the Potenzas but then again I had to get new rears after 16.5K. I bought them at vulcantires.com... I had to wait two weeks for them but they're reliable and secure, I've bought 14 ZIEX 512s over the past few years from them.
