New coupe has scratches

so i got a black/black automatic coupe a week and a half ago.. it was the only 2003blk/blk i could find near me so i took the chance and got it.. it was on the lot for a while and i guess has been washed several times by the dealer.. there are a lot of scratches in the paint that are noticeable in bright light.. the dealer said i can take it to them anytime and they will use a buffer to try and get them out. i took the car with scratches, cuz like i said it was the last one around..this is my first car so i don't know much about detailing and such. is a buffer on a new car a bad idea? Will i be better off trying to get out scratches by hand myself? wen i'm wiping off the wax and buffing the car, is it ok to go in circular motions or no? i know never to use circualar motions when washing..i guess these questions should go in the detailign section.. but anyway should i get the dealer to buff my car?

btw i'll probably using maguires..crystal guard or zaino sound more appealing to me, but i'd rather not buy online.. thanx for any feedback

Re: New coupe has scratches

I had scratches on my black coupe too. Or should I say swirl marks. You can use the black color wax to cover them up. It does look better. But if you get it buffed out, I hope the guy that does it knows what he's doing because if he doesn't, it will really screw it up. I might suggest that he do a small section for you, so you can see what the results will be before he does the whole car.

best bet is to use some Zaino, Porter Cable 7636sp, Orange Pad from properautocare.com. Use Z5, Z6, Z5, Z6, Z2 and then Z6 and the car will look good.

Swirl marks on a black car are common. It's one of the harder colors of paint to keep smooth. On my old car I used black wax, it did wonders! I would suggest having them detail it, buff out all the scracthes, then apply a couple coats of wax. And the black wax is always nice.
