RIM-tarded

I'm looking to buy new rims for my AT G35 coupe w/ 18" package, but I have no idea what type of rims would fit; next to the lug pattern, I'm not sure what all the numbers mean [offsets, diameters, etc...] and how these numbers affect fitting/performance/looks. If anyone could break it down for me or link me to a website that will enlighten me, I'd be indebted to you.

Also, do all Volk TE37/LE37's fit on our cars? Would 18 X 7.5 in size, lug pattern is 5X114.3 with an offset of +48mm work for g35 coupe? Is the offset too high?

Re: RIM-tarded

Well when it comes to Diameter is pretty measy to understand... that you get a larger wheel. It looks better and sometimes depending on how larger you go might improve performance, but if you go to big might actually slow you down.

Offset is basically tells how far the inner portion of the rim sits more out or inward. Thats where you get that deep dish look.

Lug patter is pretty much straight fwd.... how far each lug is apart from eachother through the center.

In order gor you to get new wheels you should look what the stock size is. Since normaly you have a WHEEL DIAMETER and the a TIRE SIDE WALL. when you combine the 2 you get OVERALL DIAMETER (OD). when you get bigger wheels you need to be careful not to get the wheel and tire thats larger then original OD because this can effect the number of things...such as speed of the car, breaking, traction, also your speed sensor might be off as well as speedometer. Lets say if you have larger OD then stock ... while the car might be going 60mph on your speedometer, the actual speed might be off by 2-3mph.
So what you do is as you go larger in size of the RIM say from 17 --> 18 you should get a lower profile tire to compensate for the larger wheel, this will keep OD close to original numbers.

Offset makes a difference as well since wheels are suppose to sit specific distance from the car... if they are pushed to far out...then you might rub or worse... handling will be compromised.

Usually on a RWD as oppose to FWD cars the rear uses a smaller offset numbers.

You can go all the way to 20s on the G but FOR LOOKS... if you think it will make you go faster... it will be the opposite, bigger wheels will slow you down.

If you do decide to go for bigger wheels, try to go for either forged wheels since they are lighter or a multi peice wheels since those sometimes could be lighter as well(based on the casting)

hope that helped...i'm sure others will add more info.
