Changing Tires and Tire Pressure Sensors

Alright, I searched but could not find what I was looking for.

I will be changing my summer tires to winters soon, actually, I want to do it asap, maybe this weekend, and then I remembered there are tire pressure sensors on the G.

How does that work? Where are the tire pressure sensors? This is my first time changing the tires on the G and I don't know how it works with the pressure sensors.

Can anyone help? Is it as simple as taking the summers off and putting the winters on? Or is there something you need to connect?

The TPM sensor is connected to the valve stem (antenna) and transmits a signal to the door chime module (for your key fob) which sends a signal to the BCM (body control module).

All 4 sensors in your wheel are paired with the door chime module and subsequently to the BCM from the factory. When you switch out your sensors to the winter wheels you will not have to re-pair the sensors to the two modules in the car. Typically aluminum wheels have sufficient clearance for the valve stem design, but remember the sensors on this car, which are supplied by Schraeder Bridgeport are design for that valve stem hole. Typically OEMs have corporate-wide sensor designs used on all their types of wheels.

I forgot to mention that the dealership is the only place that has the pairing tool and knows how to put the car into learn mode if you use different types of sensors. For instance, if you bought 4 off ebay or something from a different G35, you would have to pair the 4 sensors with the two modules. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm confused.

When I take the summer's off, is there anything (the tips) that I need to look for? Or are the sensors in the tire itself? From some threads I've read,
https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...essure+sensors
it looks like the TPS is inside the tire rim.

So my question is, if these TPS exist in my winters (I don't know, because I got them with my car purchase), will there be a problem?
Or, if the TPS do not exist in the winters, is that a problem for the car? Will the light on the dash go on?

This is all in theory if the TPS exist in the tire, if thats even how it is built.

Thanks for the info again!

The sensors are mounted to the back side of the valve stems inside the wheels. The come right off if you take off the tires. If you want to use the ones you have now you will need to have a tire shop remove them and put them in the other ones. If you buy a second set you will need the dealer to re-program them to your car.

Hope that helps.

Hello I might just add one thing to this subject make sure that whoever you have do the switch is very careful removing the TPM's.
I had my wheels switch from stock to chrome stock and in the process one of mine was cross threaded. The local tire shop said it came from the factory that way but who knows for sure fortunately my dealer said they would replace it under warranty as a defective part not a cross threaded problem
said Infiniti would not cover that way so I thought that was cool of them since I did not have them do the switch in the first place.

This is all good information. Thanks.

I guess my plan is to install the winter tires myself.
I don't see the sense is taking out the TPM's from one set of tires in case they damage something, even at Infiniti.
