Got rid of the growl!!!

For those of you that are experiencing the tire growl with the Bridgestone 19s, I thought that I would pass on my experience in dealing with the problem.

A visit to the dealer basically was a waste of time as he stated that I would have to pay for a four wheel alignment ($200) to assess the cause of the problem.

I had a Firestone dealer dealer complete the four wheel alignment and he stated that as I had 22k on the tires, they were in better shape that alot of others that he had seen.

After reading the feedback on this forum about the dreaded growl, I decided to order 225/35/19 Generall Exclaim UHP from Tire Rack ($111 Each - Great Reviews).

OMG what a difference. Here are my observations:

- Smooooooth ride.
- Quiet!!!!!!!!
- Lower.....than before.....

I will post a review of the tires in the Tech. forum after I get some miles on them but I did not realize how bad the growl was as it was a gradual deterioration of the quality of ride.

I hope this helps those of you that have the problem in deciding what to do..

They arrived and were instaled today

the real problem may be the camber. If that is so, then the growl will come back on this car, and presumably, it'll be worse than on the OEM tires as the General Exclaims are lower profile. I did notice that on the OEMs (when I took them off), the insides were worn out substantially more than the outsides (which is what a lot of people with tire roar are experiencing).

I dont think there will be any trouble with the rears though.

The best part is... it was so nice to spend as much money on this set of tires installed on my car, as compared to how much I spent to get tires installed on my old cooper S. $600 for a set of 4 tires on 19" wheelz, installed?! Madness!

Hey guys, I forgot to mention that the alignment and camber were exactly to manufacturer specs when I took it to Firestone.

+1.

......and my brother's coupe was aligned twice (to spec), and with new rubber, but to no avail.
The growl came back and wore out 2 more sets of tires.....

Infiniti wouldn't help knowing that the same issue exists on some coupes as existed on all those Z's back a couple years ago.

No more coupe.

C.
