hood pins are suggested but not always neccessary. personally, id rather be safe than sorry. the problem with cf hoods is that the hook or whatever you call it is attached by resin. after time the resin gets weak. this is when the hood pins come in handy. but the time that it takes for the resin to get weak is different in every situation. there are tons of people here with cf hoods and no hood pins but ive read a few stories of people having their cf hoods fly up. its your decision ultimately. do you wanna be safe? or sorry?

i would strongly suggest the hood pins I had a customer of mines cf hood shatter at approx 90mph smashing his windshild and severly denting the roof not to mention almost crashing due to no hood pins

I have had the Stillen CF hood for almost a year now with no problems. It all depends on the quality of the hood. The high end ones are designed for use without pins.

please elaborate. which model are you talking about? what do you mean some take pins? it would be a lot more helpful if you would explain which model type needs hood pins and which takes pins lol

oh and btw, i know a couple of people personally that have a cf hood and havent had any problems. one has a stillen hood and the other has a seibon hood. neither have had problems. but for me, it would be more comforting if i had hood pins.

yeah, so basically i'm getting the idea that safe is much better than sorry. i wouldn't like to drive to school every morning in fear of my hood popping up.
but drilling into the hood = thumbs down, imo. -____-;

thanks 2 everyone who posted.

Yes pins are the safe way. You can also have a shop go in and add more resin and reinforcement to the latch.
