04 6MT Flood Damage

Found my car underwater (well the water was half way up) last night. Couldn't get to it last night but this morning when the water went down saw that the water line was half way up the seat. Electronics were dead. And to think all the countless hours spent cleaning every crevis of that car. Insurance company will look at it but they've told me it will probably be totalled. Supposedly, once the electronics get killed, it's usually a total.....

So, has anyone recently had an 04 coupe 6mt with nav totalled and what can I expect the insurance company to send me money wise? I'm hoping to not take a huge loss.

They haven't asked me what options my car had or anything but I think they have that when you first get the car.

My suggestion is that you should be proactive vs reactive when it comes on settling on a replacement value. Remember their 1st offer is often a sucker offer just to see if you will accept it or not. It's all a negotiation with them. If you stand your ground with verifiable proof of the replacement value of your car, then you stand a good chance at negotiating a higher replacement value. If you just don't agree with no evidence, you will get nowhere fast. KBB, autotrader, newspaper, used car lots all need to be researched, printed and submitted for negotiation. A few hours of research could net thousands more in the settlement. It's worth it

value on the 6MT coupe is still high, it didnt drop like the 4drs did, so you might be happy with what they pay you unless u have high mielage also they will not pay you for any mods or upgrades unless they were on car when u got it & they have pics already

BTW where are u located?

Well I agree the coupes hold their value very well. But my advice doesn't change. That only means he will HAVE to get a great settlement amount in order to purchase another coupe in the same condition w/ roughly the same miles.

Thanks for all the replies.....Happened at the North White PLains Train station here in westchester county NY. Flooded after the rain. I only have 24k miles, so yes, low miles. I'll do some research. Just though maybe someone had some recent experience.

As a follow up if anyone is interested:

They came back and offered me $31,600 after subtracting my $500 deductible and $800 for a small knuckle dent and rim rash. Not bad considering I bought it in July of '04 for $36 + tax (vpp). It was a 6mt with 24k miles, premium and nav.
