Kinda impressed with the Loaner car

I just got my car back today and I have to admit the loaner car I had was pretty fun to drive it was a 05 I didn't realize that the auto trannies would be so quick almost to the point when I got my car back today to think it felt faster it was just a nice change to just stomp on the gas and not worring about shifting just wanted to let you know my impression makes me also wonder how quick the 07 sedan is I should of taken it for a test drive

Awesome dude. I know what you mean, automatic trannies are getting better and better as technology advances. VW is already making auto/tiptronic transmissions for their sporty cars such as GTIs and GLIs called DSG I believe that are faster than their manual counterparts. I was in a 07 sedan, but did not drive it, someone else was, but it's sooo fast. Puts the older gen G's to shame seriously it's crazy fast, and once you get to 60mph the power goes from 306hp to 309hp, it basically gains a 3hp boost for added acceleration. Pretty damn sickk huh?

I recently had an 06 sedan loaner loaded with Intellikey. Few things I noticed:

-I tend to drive a lot faster with the auto trans, because it takes so little effort to accelerate (no need to downshift). Although the manual shift on the auto was painfully slow in shifting and useless. There was no point in shifting it to manual mode as it would only slow the car down.
-intellikey is amazing, from the nice sounding beep when you push the buttons on the doors and the trunk, to the memory seats/steering wheel that moves out of the way for easy ingress/egress.
-Trunk space is nice to have, and reclining rear seats are a definite plus.
-In the end, I am still glad I have a 6MT coupe, but I wish badly that Intellikey was available for my car.

Yes, I also wish I had intellikey, I really wanted memory seats I hate having to change my seat anytime some family member wants to drive my car(usually my dad)..

same thing happened to me. i could have sworn the loaner was faster . ecu's probably adjusted to the car being run harder.

In no way did i feel the auto 06 sedan loaner was anywhere close to feeling as fast as my 05 6MT coupe, but it was effortless speed (mostly due to the trans). It was also quite boring to drive, about as fast as the 6MT but not even close to being as much fun. I really drove the hell out of the loaner too, redlining it every chance I got. I really don't understand why anyone would actually pick the AT over the 6MT trans. (besides commuters, although the G isn't the typical commuter car)

i guess loaners are beat to death from day one, so they always feel faster than our own.

I had a Toyota Corolla (spell?) for my loaner last time... I beat the living hell out of the thing like I do all loaners though... I road second gear (automatic) till 60 and just cruised in 2nd... yup.. some of us never grow up when driving a loaner.. I was pissed to get this cheap car for a loaner though.. but the 50 miles I put on it must of been like 5,000 to that car.. I think the motto in loaner world is "drive it like you stole it"

the only reason they feel faster is the reason stated above...the auto just gives more effortless speed as well as the small torque advantage... but the car is 100% not faster. I raced a kid with an 05 g35x with stillen exhuast and intake vs my 06 6mt with just popcharger/ztube from a 60 roll...even started out behind him from the on ramp and ate his food.

Yep, Intelligent Key is great....the only down-side is when I use my
wife's Mazda3....I get in, then have to get back out to retrieve the key
from my pocket....just have to get her an FX...

Automatics/tiptronics will NEVER replace the real stuff... MT's.

People get auto's for their own reasons, but Manuals will also be the prefered for many enthusiasts
