I saw a vid somewhere (there was a thread posted here on radars with link to it) There was bun of radars tested with all kind of diff tests and I think they mentioned in the vid that cops try to aim at your license plate or head lights for better signal/laser reflection. So that is why I'm kinda concerned that you ming actually be putting your self into the danger zone by mounting it high. I'm not sure what kind of radars cops use her in WA but I was able to catch them waaaaay before they even come into sight using my V1. And it is mounted same way.

"Generally the best place to mount a detector is up high, by the rear view mirror. This allows it to get the best view of the road and gives the maximum range. There is also another reason to put it up high. Thieves can't see it and if you do get pulled over, there is less chance of a cop seeing it. If a cop sees a radar detector, forget any chance of talking your way out of the ticket. The only thing to watch is some cars have a metal film tint along the top of the windscreen and this can block the radar and LIDAR which reduces the effectiveness."
