300+ each compared to 200+ each for 20's? and 150+ for 18's?

$300... I wish I could find tires that cheap. Try $900 (installed) just for rears...

Depends on width... and profile...

Ive heard from a guy that use to work at a tire shop that.. 19" tires are odd and 20" are more common so.. production cost is more for 19"

Here's the true reasoning.

Back when the first 6 series BMW came out, BMW was the first manufacture to use 19' wheels. For some odd reason, they did okay.

So other companies tried it out, failure. Not just because of the tires though.

In essence, BMW tried 19's didn't work out and nobody manufactures them now.

At least thats what the guy at the shop told me.

Yea definitely depends on manufacturer, width and profile. I have an extra set of 225/40/19 Toyo's for $350 which isn't too bad for 2 tires... the 235/35/19's I ended up using were $20 more per tire. There are definitely some more expensive tires out there (Michelin for example)

Think again.. 285/30/20 Potenza S03's - a damn expensive tire

EDIT - There are tires that cost way more than that as well.. look at the Pirelli P Zero - $500 a tire (not installed and not including shipping)

19's are more expensive because they are not a popular size. I think we are the only ones that run 19's for the most part. civics use 18's accord fit 20's bmw fit 18's and trucks and everyone else fit 20's its just that 20's and 18's are more popular out there.

This cemented my decision to go with 20's when I get new wheels.

Try different sizes. I just went to 225/35/19s in the front and they are fine. They drop the front only about .5 inches and they handle great. Tire rack helped me out with General Exclaim UHP @$111 each. Great reviews and I am definitely happy so far. Great grip handling, etc.

just like everyone said, 19s are odd sizes and arent a common rim size to find as well (besides our community) 20 or DUBS are so common that the tire prices for them have dropped significantly the last year or so...

ok not just bash everyone here but 19's are a very commen size for tuners..... 19's were the biggest wheels out for the longest time before the DUB world came into play..... Its a matter of supply and demand. Notice how you cant really buy a sh!tty 19" tire. Most of them are high performance and what not.

The real tuner world is based off 19" wheels. In Europe they even make a 19" R-compound. Most of the drift guys run 19" wheels so in reality you get what you pay for again. You have to pay to play...
