yeah, it depends on what your doing with it. if your a weekend user, pretty much anything out there will work for you as long as the specs match what you need. if youe going to be using it everyday, snap-on, dewalt, IR, or milly should work just fine.

Burns, i dunno that id say that milly doesnt last long. ive used TONS of thier stuff, and compared to most brands, they rank pretty high on reliability.

Dewalt and Mill are nice wrenches that are reliable and have parts that are common. So servicing is cheaper. Hilti makes great tools, but are very expensive. They are from Germany so precision is built-in. However, fixing them are expensive.

In construction, we usually use Dewalt, Mill or Hilti. If its an occasional use tool stick with the domestic brands. Pneumatic is the way to go with these tools, but the electric guns are decent too if the job is not too intensive.

Go with the 1/2" drive not the 3/8" drive. They have more surface bite for torquing. Get tempered sockets too. Less chance of snap and inner wear.

www.harborfreight.com

I dont know much about the quality of all the tools on this site but everything is soooo inexpensive. Most things are cheap enough to just try them out. I would start there... 19.2 volt coredless impact wrench for 69.99... my 2 cents though.. i would get the corded one so you dont have to worry about it dying.. 49.99. I just bought 400 bucks worth of crap there tonight.

good luck

harbor freight is good for one thing. A big dumb wrench for a dumb laborer, that will end up breaking it, or dropping it in a holding tank or something like that. pretty much the rule of thumb for harbor freight is, if it has moving parts and you want it to last more than 2 months, dont get it from them.
theyre ok for SOME solid piece tools. wrenches, screwdrivers, blah blah blah.

I was thinking of getting a Transmission Jack from Harbor freight becuase I'd probably only use it like 2 or 3 times in my life to change out clutches... but definitely wouldn't plan on buying something like an Impact Wrench from them. Like many of you said, the consensus on Harbor Freight tools is that they are almost all basicly crap.

^ their air impacts are bleh tho lol

Electronic Impact IMO: Dewalt, SnapOn or IR... all 3 are expensive but their quality is top...

I personally have a 18v Hitachi Coordless Impact but thats only cause I know a guy that works for Hitachi... Guy next to my stall at work has the Dewalt and that thing has some *****... SnapOn one costs a ton and if you're only going to use it once in a while to take wheels on and off then its not worth it IMO.. IR might be a good choice also their products are well priced and quality is there (I'm using their air 1/2" and 3/8" impacts)

Besides snap-on, you can also go for MAC or Matco. reputable brands too. Harbor Frieght are good for SOME things... like hammers, tie downs, jack stands and pliers. i have a huge collection of snap-on, craftsman (that brand sucks) MAC and Matco, and a small set of cheap HF products that i hardly use...

Personally, if I were I were you, I'd buy an air-compressor and some air-tools, rather than a cordless impact wrench.

I love my air-compressor. If you want to buy an impact wrench to save time removing your wheels, just think how much you'll love an air-assisted hydraulic floor jack....

DeWalt corded impact driver works great. I also bought a cordless one from Pep Boys, branded as Goodyear but it works and has enough juice for a full tire rotation/change. Make sure you buy impact sockets though. Regular ones are not strong enough. Party on!
