Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
I got my baby G last january. It was really cool at first becuase it seemed that where ever I went arounf LA, Long Beach, and Orange County. If there was a G driver or even a 350z I would give a nod, thumbs up, or a wave and almost all would give it back. Now that the G has been out a while I keep getting that BMW snub look from alot of G drivers now. I still get a few replies to my enthusiasm but not much any more. The last time was on the 10 freeway a guy maybe a few years younger than my 26 came roaring up on my left in his new Twilight Blue 6MT sedan. It was very nice with the aero kit and all. He stomped on the brakes near me and I looked over and gave him a smile and a thumbs up. My girl friend thinks I'm insane and is much happier that I am not communicating with every G driver I see. One other interesting thing I have noticed. It seems that out of all the lady G drivers I have encountered only ONE has looked over and smiled and gave that "G wave". I guess most of the others thought I was trying to hit on them. No girls I'm hitting on your car.... LoL. Lates.

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
I've only seen one coupe since I got mine a month ago and it was in the parking lot at the gym. I tried to see whose it was but they left while I was in the shower. I see some sedans around and give them a wave. They more often than not wave back. One time a couple probably around 50 (I'm 40) pulled up next to me. She pointed out my coupe and he gave me a thumbs up! I returned the gesture with a big smile.

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
G35girl- girl in a stylish car waving at you....hmmmm yeah I think anybody would wave back. If a girl in a Kia Sephia waved at me I'd wave back
I think that, well at least out here in California, guys don't really wave at each other too much. It's probably a macho thing to just try lay low in your car and act nonchalant. But they probably see you. I bet if you came up behind them or passed them up really fast they'd acknowledge pretty quick.
I haven't seen any coupes (or sedan's) close enough to even acknowledge but I'd let them know they have a nice car...........

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
Zorro, i also own and drive my corolla as well. I try to acknowledge most of the G-owners....but they pass me by going too fast, and it's a Bi**ch to try and catch up with them as well. Sometimes I wish I can just rush home, get in my G, and do it all over again on the same road.
Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
I have, but usually it is middle aged men and women in sedans. They don't seem too keen on giving props to fellow g'ers. I have gotten a wave from a couple Z's and Q's though.

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
I've owned mine since early August now. I've only encountered 2 other coupes since then (while driving mine). One gave we the wave, and the other guy and I talked about our cars a few moments in a parking lot. Thats all. My rule is to wave at other coupes. All the local sedan drivers seem to be middle aged ladies just headed to and from work. Seriously, they are around here anyway.

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
Ehh I almost gave up on the whole wave to the other G drivers thing ... lately nobody cares to acknowelage another G. If I see its a person above 30 I dont even bother ... no point in 99% of the cases, usually they just talk on their cell phones and not really paying attention to people around them while driving in the slow lane with corollas passing them. I always give props to the Z drivers thats where I get most of the replies. I get all giddy and excited when I see another G, coupe or sedan ... although a coupe gets me worked up a bit more. I do get a lot more attention from drivers of other sports cars. Is it me or are there a lot of snob G drivers out there? yes yes its the ex BMW folk

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
I've had my coupe for about four months. I've had 2 coupe encounters one was on the highway and I was going to fast to look to see who was in it. The other time was when I was on my way to work and stopped at a light and across from me was a white coupe with a 30 something man and women they both smiled and waived.

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
I always wave to coupe drivers. When I pass them on a highway I give a honk and wave. I used to wave to sedan drivers, but most of them don't get it. I don't bother with Zs unless the driver waves to me first.

Yea i went to the mall like 5 days ago...and parked RIGHT next to a G' coupe...she parked way out in the parking lot...where no other cars were...so did the same...
So when i got out of the mall...she was loading up her trunk... she was an older lady. but she kept on smiling at me..so i smiled back and was all that white looks nice...she had a white G, AT...but i really love the white color on G's... peace
PS alot of the 350z owners show much love...but only the older nicer guys...i get a lot of thumbs up from Z owners...but the cocky young punks just "dog" me with dirty looks, oh well.

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
You know guys, I always feel like such a dumb@ss. But sure enough all of you guys always make me feel better. I always wave to all the coupes, but so far, I've only gotten one wave back. I've probably honked or waved or both to about 8 or nine coupes, most of them just ignore me. They give me this look like what are you looking at. My gf will even slide down in the seat because she doesn't want to be seen next to me when I'm waiving and being a dumb@ss. Man.. what's with these guys.
It seems like lots of people are getting the same responses. I guess the readers of the forums are all great G advocates, while the majority of the owners out there just view it as another car. Kind of sucks, where's the pride?

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
I'm a waver too, but often the interaction is only a couple seconds. Allowing for reaction time and realization, it's hard to objectively determine if a snub is indeed a snub, or just someone who didn't figure it out, was doing something with both hands, didn't see you soon enough, or something else similarly innocent.
As the G penetrates into the market, it is becoming more of a mainstream car, particularly the sedans. As such, the relative percentage of wavers will at the very least appear to go down. You don't see all the Accord, Camry, and minivan drivers waving to each other now do you? =)
I'm only a few months in, and wave whenever I get the chance. It's probably been about 10 times so far, and I only have 2 or 3 confirmed wave-backs. That said, I don't disparage any of those non-waving drivers whatsoever. As I stated above, there are plenty of logical reasons why a "waver" would appear as a "non-waver". Even motorcyclists, perhaps the most wavey bunch I've ever belonged to, have bad waving days.

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
Interesting topic. I was thinking about this today as a matter of fact. There were a couple of polls on FA that showed that the majority of G-owners were perspective 3-series owners.
I've seen several people complaining about the 3-series snobs so I guess that same demographic of middle class snoots has just changed cars but not their attitudes.
People on car forums are almost always car fanatics. They're not very mainstream and can't expect others in the general public to get as excited about cars as we do.
When I see a G coming I have an incredible urge to high-beam them but I haven't so far. I do acknowledge other G-drivers but I do it very subtle. I usually do the "head nod" thing and if they acknowledge back THEN I'll give them a thumbs up or some other more enthusiastic response.
When you give them the nod and they don't even acknowledge it's not the thumbs-up that I want to give them but a different digit-salute... I wouldn't flip anybody off but I'd sure like to.
I just think it's big-city etiquette. I'm from a small town in the south and when you walk past people on the street you're expected to say hello or good morning but in big-cities people walk right past each other all the time without acknowledgement so I wouldn't think it would be any different in a car... It's just hard to get used to.

Re: Do You Acknowledge Other G Drivers?
I either flash my high beams and 1 time I got a flash back...
Or give the fighter-pilots salute. <- I make a motion that we make the fighter-pilot salute the official G greeting...
All In Favor???
