I bought the car off the lot 2 weeks ago so the dealer put on the rear stock spoiler for me. I want to disconnect the middle brake light under the rear winshield but I have very little knowledge about car. Did anyone here successfully disconnected the brake light under the rear winshield yet? If you did please help me. Thanks

OK, I have a sedan, but I think it is pretty similiar. Open your hatch/trunk, and remove the stiff "carpet feeling" panel below the stock rear brake light. There will be some padding below the light. Routed through the padding is a set of wires. 2 wires. There should be a connector within this set of wires. Simply unplug the connector. now, if the factory spoiler is spliced in after the connector (between the connector and the stock rear brake light), this won't work, as it will make your spoiler lights not work. make sense?

 

I have an added spoiler and just disabled the light by cutting the power wire to it so it does not come on.

I believe the lead wire to the high mount brake light is pink with a blue stripe. It runs near the trunk light that is located inside the trunk under the rear deck. I don't think you need to remove the upper liner to get to it.

From the back seat, lift up the forward edge of brake lite housing and pull towards the front of the car. It is real easy to remove. Pull the wires and you'll see a connector plug, disconnect! It is done. Now replace the lite housing the same way you removed it. If it takes you more than 60 seconds, you are doing something wrong.

Thanks BillR, I just disconnected mine 5 mins ago. It works. One more thing to add on. Fold the back seat down before removing the light hub. Thanks guys
