I installed just the Z-tube last weekend (Amsoil filter going in soon for me too), and in 90% highway driving from my house to Richmond, VA last week (about 100 miles) I got 28.4 MPG. That's maybe 1-2 MPG better than I was getting before on the trip.

Can't wait to see what happens with the Amsoil filter...

K&N's let a lot of air through, but they also let a ton of dirt in.

Supposedly the Amsoil Nanofiber filters let almost as much(if not just as much) air in as the K&N's do, but they catch dirt particles that are up to 10 times smaller than those caught by K&N. Even if the Amsoil filters aren't quite 100% as efficient at air-flow as the K&N's, I'd be willing to sacrifice a tiny bit of that MPG gain and even 1 or 2 HP for the peace of mind in knowing that my new Amsoil EA Nanofiber Air Filter is doing such a great job catching dirt.

In all reality though.... most people seem to say that the Nanofiber filters yield nearly identicle economy and performance numbers as the K&N's. Believe it or not, the Amsoil filters are actually cheaper to buy too.
A simple visual inspection of what you determine to look like dirty oil does not translate into increased wear. Without a true used oil analysis from Blackstone or the like, you are simply speculating. It would be necessary to take before and after samples using the same oil, similar driving conditions, and oil change intervals to provide any conclusive evidence as to whether the K&N air filter is allowing increased wear through increased air flow. You would see increases in wear particles such as FE or AL.

So is getting a plenum spacer your best bet? I'm thinking about purchasing a motordyne basic 5/16 plenum spacer this will improve fuel efficiency/mpg? And what about adding some test pipes any chance of improvement there?

When I was stock, I averaged 19city, 23highway.

After Boost, I have dropped to 15-16 city, but upped to 24.5 average on the freeway!!!

(Prior to boost, my only mod was a ztube.)

Here's the deal. No bolt on mod is going to significantly increase MPG for every car. A member here or there might report some improvement, but overall performance mods like a spacer, exhaust, or test pipes actually decrease mileage because you push the car harder. If you're not going to do that mods are pretty worthless.

Nissan designed a very tight motor, remember you drive a high-powered V6 that runs at fairly high RPMs most of the time so mileage is what it is. That fact that I'm cruising at 3200 RPMs at 80 used to bug me, but I love my car so much I got over that pretty quickly.

My only mods on my g35 are z tube intake, Exhaust, and I have notice not a enormous Mpg gain , BUT a slight mpg increase due to my reasoning anything before you had on stock is restricting your engine to some point and when you put a nice aftermarket exhaust with intake you are essentially don't restrict the engine making it breath better giving you better mpg. Another thing is weight is important to your stock exhaust is a heavy mother****** and when you put your new and improve light weight system better on your car, in weight factor just a point idk it could just be me but i'm getting better mpg

dont spend too much money on that stuff just for mpg's. just get an intake and install it yourself. $200, and an increase in mpg and power(only a little). thats the only one worth it.

No, I sold my G and now drive a lifted ram. .
But I did average 16mpg in my G, so justifying the trucks poor mpg is easy. Towing capacity ftw.
