EVO

Re: EVO
An Evo should rip a stock G35 from a dig. From a roll, I think depending on where you start, it should be a decent race. AWD is pretty parasitic on the drivetrain and I assume the Evo, much like the WRX, is not as great from a roll as from a dig.
But from a dig - a stock G35 would get walked assuming both drivers are excellent.

Re: EVO
Its pretty even until like the 40-50-60 mile an hour range. A friend told me who has a coupe was losing around that range. He didnt go faster than 80 thou so he doesnt know if in 1/4 mile who win but im guessing the evo should win.

Re: EVO
Sorry, a dig means from a dead stop like how real 1/4 mile races are run.
From a roll means, well, from a rolling start. Pick your speed, honk your horn three times (or whatever proper "etiquette" is) and go.
The Evo, having AWD and more hp (and less weight) should rip a G35 Coupe out of the hole and walk it from there. Obviously, the EVO driver has to know how to lauch his/her car - AWD isn't the easiest to launch, but it is the most effective. Of course AWD cars tend to lose steam in the upper speeds.
The best times I've seen from the G35coupe 6mt has been low, low 14s. Evo's generally run mid to low 13s. I'm not saying a G35 can't beat one on the street as driver error is always a variable that is always present. However, assuming that both drivers are equal, the Evo should win fairly handily from a dig.
From a roll, where the massive torque of the G35 coupled with its nice gearing comes into play, along with the fact that AWD lose steam up top - I think it would be a very interesting race.

Re: EVO
Theoretical winning and winning is different.
I smoked a brand new Evo VIII prolly juss off the lot, as the driver stalled his engine on the light. Then after he caught up, must have misshifted or something, because at about 75 mph his car juss slowed down and the look on his face was pure disgust. He must have misshifted or something of the sort .. Lucky for me. =)

Re: EVO
Hence the reason why I said "drivers are the biggest variable on the street."
On paper, however, the Evo wins. I don't know how the Evo and the G35Coupe even got compariable times in any magazine. The Evo has more power and is lighter I believe. I'm not sure how the two cars gearing compares - couple that with AWD and you have a hella of a car off the line.
That things is running mid to low 13s stock, which is a good 1/2 second quicker than any stock G35 slip I've ever seen.
But jeez, they're two totally different cars. One is a rally racer and the other is a luxury/sporty coupe. They're not really all that comparable.
Oh, and Dragon, I could beat a Z06 if he stalled at the light and then misshifted. Anyway, how does a guy stall at a light and then catch up to you?

Re: EVO
Even if the EVO was RWD, it would be a pretty close race. We have 9 more horses but equal amount of torque. Also, the EVO would be even lighter compared to the G since it wont have the added weight of AWD. But seriously, why compare apples to oranges?

Re: EVO
He stalled so I didn't even give it more gas wen it was only 3k .. So he tries to go even tho I slow down .. So instead of downshifting like I should have, I juss punched it .. and he still misshifted. He must have been nervous.

Yeah bro that was SUPER STREET Mag...
Great issue! I couldn't believe they had the g35 beeting the evo or tying it in almost every category?
Peace

Re: EVO
All I have ever heard about the EVO is that you have to be an outstanding driver to get it to launch correctly and it has alot of turbo lag and the ride is harsh and it's ugly and it's 30,000 and the radio is an option. I'll take speed and style over speed and no style anyday
